JFM Environmental Limited services
Brownfield Redevelopment Services
A brownfield site is one where known environmental issues are posing an obstruction over and above customarily unattractive economics in connection with the cleanup and/or redevelopment of the property. However, recent legislative changes in Ontario in particular are expected to relieve some of the current disincentives to the redevelopment of brownfield sites, and JFM is well positioned to serve this emerging market.
Contaminant Remediation Services
JFM is able to provide clients with complete contaminant remediation services, on either a turnkey basis or as separate individual steps in the process, according to the needs of the client. In addition to on-site remediation solutions, our licensing as a contractor especially enables JFM to provide superior cost-effective services with respect to the assessment, characterization and off-site disposal of contaminated soils in connection with UST removals and the securing of the appropriate Record of Site Condition (RSC) upon completion of the cleanup.
Drinking Water Well Testing Services
JFM has the necessary engineering, groundwater expertise and the professional accreditation to sample and conduct hydraulic testing of private water supply wells in order to ensure that owners are in compliance with the Ontario Water Resources Act. Our services in this area include the required periodic sampling and analysis of drinking water at various points within the water supply system, and the evaluation from both a water quality and quantity perspective of the water supply system itself. JFM holds the necessary Certificates of Authorization to perform such services.Environmental Research Services
JFM’s diversity in environmental disciplines provides it with the ability to offer environmental research and development services to clients in need of forward-looking environmental impact studies, e.g. in testing the environmental viability of new production processes, or changes being contemplated to existing processes.
Environmental Site Assessments & Risk Management Services
The need to actively manage environmental issues related to real property in Canada came to the forefront over the past two decades. During that time, passage of legislation in effect placed accountability for the environmental impairment of a property on its present owner, regardless of which party was actually responsible for creating the impaired condition.
Hydrogeological Assessments Services
As part of the property development process, a hydrogeological assessment will often be required. A hydrogeological assessment may be completed to assess the impacts of proposed development on existing water supply wells, Areas of Natural or Scientific Interest (ANSI), wetlands, streams, and other sensitive receptors that may be affected.
Ministry of Environment Approvals
JFM provides services associated with the aquisition of certificates of approval to operate stationary and mobile industrial sewage treatment equipment (as defined under section 53 of the Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA)). JFM can also assist in performing the necessary assessment work and data gathering functions for clients seeking to obtain other environmentally related certificates and permits, e.g. in connection with the testing, documentation and regular inspection of water works facilities. (also required under the OWRA).
Mold Surveys Services
Mold is everywhere and unavoidable. Its growth is always associated with elevated moisture and / or water damage. JFM offers services that can find and identify water sources that have lead to microbial contamination. The identification of the presence, source and the extent of microbial contamination are important in developing a successful remediation plan. JFM investigates, monitors, supervises, and verifies proper project management and job completion for you.Soil & Groundwater Investigations Services
JFM personnel have conducted literally hundreds of individual soil and groundwater investigations under all types of land occupancy circumstances and geological settings. Typically these types of investigations are required in larger urban industrial settings, however, trends in environmental awareness such as the Walkerton, Ontario experience have extended the prospective areas where this type of work is required to smaller and rural communities as well.
