Sifting, Sorting & Separating
JOST - Gravity Counterflow Separator
The target of the countercurrent sifter is the reduction of the dust content in chemically bonded foundry sand. Sand attrition units remove the organic binder surface at means by friction from the sand grain. This organic „binder dust“ must be removed as proper as possible to keep the L.O.I of the reclaimed sand low. The sand/dust mixture passes trough a two-layer low channel. The upper layer leads to an adjustable deflection plate. In the lower layer, a controlled airflow is forced trough the flow channel. The light particles are reflected by the deflection plate in a different angle, compared to the sand particles. Due to this, the light organic dust is carried out by the air flow while the sand is passing to the next sifter stage.

FSM conveyors, which are especially suitable for the cast iron transport, are basically consisting of the vibrating trough, the trough carrying frame and the modular executed and standardized vibration absorber stations. The flexibility of the design allows a large distance between the absorber stations can be considered, enabling a floor conveyor to pass under the conveyor in this position.
Screening
JOST - Dewatering Screen
Dewatering screens were basically developed for the sand dewatering, and now they are used in nearly every industry e.g. iron ore or coal processing. The basic movement of dewatering screen is linear with horizontal mounting or upward inclination. With a high angle of attack and high acceleration, extremely low residual moisture values can be achieved. Based on the low conveying speed a high product layer will be created at the screen deck end, this gives an additional dewatering effect.
Cooling
JOST - Sand Cooler
Used sand coolers Type DWFA serve for the cooling of hot foundry sand. The DWFA type used sand cooler consists of a vibrating conveyor made with an air-permeable bottom, a stationary exhaust hood, a moisturizing unit, a fan and a control unit. The sand is cooled under optimum heat transfer conditions in the fluidised bed by evaporation of water. The final moisture level is adjusted by the precisely controlled addition of water according to the temperature and throughput.
Dosing
JOST - Model SDE/SDZ - Small Screen Dosing
The SDE/SDZ Small Screen is a particularly compact version of a vibration screen equipped with the tried and tested JD Dosing Drive. As a linear feeder, they are used for sifting plastic granulates (strand granulates or underwater granulates) and can also be used in the foodstuffs industry as well as other sectors.
Breaking
JOST - Model ZUFB - Pre-Reclaiming Sand Attrition Unit
The ZUFB machines are pre-reclaiming sand attrition units (Vibro V-jaw crusher) for big lumps of chemical bonded moulding and core sand. They are typically used for the primary reduction of core sand blocks. The sand block is mainly destroyed by squeezing it between two vibrating jaws. The width of the outlet gap is adjustable. The result: Small sand lumps, ready for further attrition. Note: A friction-based reclaiming unit model ZUFS needs to be installed after a ZUFB sand attrition unit. If high quantities of metal are embedded in the processed sand lumps, it is necessary to remove them before they enter the device.
Dryer
JOEST - Vibratory Dryer
A vibrating dryer uses indirect heat transfer to cool the product while it is conveyed on the dryer surface. Hot water, steam or hot oil can be used as a drying medium. The product and the cooling medium are kept separate to ensure product quality and purity.
JOEST - Vibrating Fluid Bed Dryer
A vibrating fluid bed dryer uses temperature-controlled zones to dry the product quickly and evenly. The product is fluidized in warm or hot air and cooled by convection to achieve high drying rates and excellent uniformity.
