Cooling towers

The modular cooling tower system can be expanded and customized, and there are standard solutions available for various capacity requirements. This system is standardized to a great degree and has been adapted to a great number of customer wishes. Around 80 % is available as standard solutions, with the remaining 20 % implemented as customized engineering. The factory-preassembled modules are employed primarily for smaller projects, for which the customer enjoys significant cost advantages. The larger the project, on the other hand, the more effective are field-erected cooling towers. Our engineers make customized modifications to meet your special requirements.

Air dryer

Air dryer are available in different material designs: galvanized steel, stainless steel, copper, and smooth pipe. These product variations allow us to offer solutions that best fit to your specific applications and requirements. Heavy industrial loadings or high temperatures make no difference to air dryers made of galvanized steel. They are manufactured completely from steel to form a welded unit. The elliptical finned tubes are hot-dip galvanized. Frame and headers are protected against corrosion by zinc-dust primer and an epoxy aluminium finishing paint. It goes without saying that the complete heat exchanger unit is also available as a version galvanized in a dipping bath.

Exhaust gas recirculation cooler

The EGR Cooler, developed in close collaboration with our customers for medium and low speed engines, ensures that the recirculation exhaust-gas is mixed at the lowest possible temperature with the air for the combustion process. EGR Coolers are an essential element of EGR systems for the next engine generation which already now fulfills future emission guidelines according to IMO (International Maritime Organization), EPA (US Emission Protection Agency), EURO, etc. We have developed various cooler designs with regard to the different requirements of EGR Coolers at 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. The patented design for 4-stroke engines high pressure EGR system enables cooling of exhaust gas, some of which are over 700 °C, down to 50 °C.

Box cooler

A Box Cooler is a vessel water cooling system. It comprises a U-tube bundle that is fitted in the sea chest on the side of a vessel, saving space in the engine room. The sea chest is equipped with inlet and outlet grids. Cooling sea water enters through the inlet grid and flows along the U-tube bundle to the outlet grid, thus cooling the water inside the tubes. The cooling effect is achieved by the forced circulation of sea water when the vessel is moving or by natural convection when it is stationary. Box coolers can be used for a wide variety of temperature-reducing duties on a vessel, from cooling the main engines, auxiliary engines and bow thrusters to air conditioning and hydraulic systems. Kelvion Box Coolers are ideal for small and medium sized vessels, including for example: tugboats, barges, fishing boats, carriers, dredgers, supply vessels, ferries, ice breakers, cargo freighters, tankers and reefers.

Round corners on casing and latest EC/ESM technology are further benefits for a reliable installation and operation. The blow through version - the KBC - with adapted coil and casing ensures efficient air flow and is an ideal solution for fresh produce and flower storage application where high humidity levels must be maintained.

Kelvion - Model CMC Series - Polacel Modular Cooling Tower

Cool your water flows in different sizes: This range of cooling tower cells is designed to cool small water flows. There are 7 different sizes that cover water flows from 5 to 150 m3 per hour. The towers are completely prefabricated and shop tested. The thermal performance of these cooling towers is optimized with regard to the use of water and power consumption. Noise production of the standard tower is low due to the configuration with an axial ventilator. In case of severe noise requirements several extensions are possible. The equipment is full corrosion resistant and provides a long lasting reliable solution for generation of cold water.
