The Agritape High Temperature Heat Matreaches higher temperatures than a standard heat mat, allowing you to germinate seeds in cool areas and achieve warmer soil temperatures. It is an excellent tool for small growers who start seeds in cool basements rather than greenhouses. In air temperatures cooler than 55° F, this mat warms the soil enough for proper germination of heat-loving crops like tomatoes, peppers, and melons. Seedless watermelon growers appreciate that this mat easily reaches the 90° F soil temperature that triploid melons require for germination.

Agritape Heat Mat Systems are easily installed and removed, so bench space can be used for multiple purposes. The Agritape heats up when it is electrified with standard house current (110 volts AC) and generates heat (up to 95° F) that is extremely uniform across the entire surface of the tape. The tape is rated 20 watts per linear foot. Agritape Heat Mats distribute heat evenly over the entire mat surface, eliminating the cool spots typical of wire coil mats.

Kwik Growseed tray heaters are safe, low-voltage, and professional quality. They are designed to generate exceptionally uniform, gentle heat that is ideal for germinating seeds. Many other home garden heat mats contain wire coils, so the mats have hot and cool spots. In contrast,Kwik Growmats distribute heat evenly over the mat and generate warmth continuously. Heaters may be left on safely, and seed trays can be placed directly on the surface of the heat mat. Insulation may be placed under the heaters to maximize energy efficiency, but this is not necessary. Soil temperatures should be monitored with a soil thermometer. If a lower temperature is required, the seed tray can be raised slightly above the heater using thin shims. Mats are equipped with ACLI plugs as an extra safety feature.

There are three types of control units: AT-1, AT-JR and Precise. The AT-1 controls up to 120 sq. feet of Agritape on a 20-amp service line. The AT-JR is designed for smaller systems and will control up to 80 sq. feet of Agritape. For even smaller germination areas the Precise is a great lower cost option for running a single mat up to 10 sq. feet. Each thermostat features an easy to adjust temperature dial and a bulb sensor with a 2-foot lead. The AT models feature a pilot light that indicates when the heat mats are on, and a ground wire connects to the screen that provides system ground.

Agritape Precise Heat Matsare designed for small commercial growers and gardeners. The heater consists of an Agritape heating element (11 inches wide by either 4 or 8 feet long) and a built-in adjustable dial thermostat. A GFCI (ground fault sensing) plug turns the heater off if there is any current leakage. A grounded screen is not necessary. The efficient design of this heater provides a professional quality, adjustable heat source at a reasonable price. The Precise Heat Mat is self-contained and can be easily rolled up for storage.
