KOSEQ - Sweeping Arms

The Koseq Compact rigid sweeping arms are based on the same principle as the well-known offshore rigid sweeping arm, but shorter and lighter and therefore perfectly suited to be used on smaller vessels.

KOSEQ - Multi Purpose Vesse

The Vessel’s base is a stable Aluminium Catamaran type boat that has a large free deck area for safe operations, prepared for multi-functional operations. Despite its length of around 12 m it is still possible to transport the vessel over land by truck. The vessel has prepared connections and foundations for a powerful Hydraulic Knuckle boom-crane, Hydraulic operated boom-reel, cassette sweeping arms with high capacity skimmer, dispersant system, build-in oil storage tanks and high-efficiency Garbage collection system with interchangeable storage containers. The combination of an economic twin fixed-pitch propeller and the vessels hull-shape makes it possible to reach a speed of 12 knots for rapid intervention duty. For a high level operational availability on-site the vessel Can be supported by inflatable storage tanks that can be towed to shore for disposal whilst recovery operations continue.

Modular Systems

Koseq - Modular Crane Pedestal System

When a large offshore oil spill occurs it is important to respond immediately. Dedicated oil spill response vessels (OSRV) like the once fitted with Rigid Sweeping Arms and its handling cranes are not often directly available, therefore, temporary vessels of opportunity (VOO) have to be prepared instead. The MCPS offers the oil spill responder a high level of preparedness through vessel flexibility and rapid response. This MCPS system will turn a VOO into a very safe and most effective offshore oil spill recovery vessel, within hours.

Sweeping Arm Models

Koseq - Compact Sweeping Arms

The Koseq Compact rigid sweeping arms are based on the same principle as the well-known offshore rigid sweeping arm, but shorter and lighter and therefore perfectly suited to be used on smaller vessels. The compact sweeping arms come in two different sizes: 5 meter sweeping arm and 8 meter sweeping arm, or Compact 5 and Compact 8. The unit is free floating and trailed alongside by the oil spill recovery vessel to recover the oil. Moving through the oil spill the oil guided by the rigid sweeping arm and pushed into the pump well. The hydraulic driven submersible pump is directly placed behind the height adjustable weir bar and delivers the oil/water mixture directly to the storage tanks on board the vessel. The pump, the height adjusted weir bar and the debris screen are remotely controlled by only one operator. Optionally a brush skimmer is available. The pump and all other equipment is powered hydraulicly by a diesel-hydraulic power pack.

Koseq - Victory Oil Sweeper

The Victory Oil Sweeper is unique because of it is capability to not only be pulled alongside the vessel but also pushed in front of the ship. The system floats independently and because of this it is not necessary to carry the unit on the deck of a vessel. Smaller vessels of opportunity can deploy the sweeping arm as well. The sweeping arm can be placed in the water from shore and then be quickly pushed to the oil spill site with the arms closed at speeds of 10+ knots.  To push the VOS when sweeping oil at 2 knots 75Kw is enough. The Victory Oil Sweeper can also be pulled alongside a ship by towing lines. This way the system can move freely over the waves for optimal offshore oil recovery.

Koseq - Sweeping Arms for Offshore Oil Recovery System

The Rigid sweeping arms offer an easy, fast and safe solution for offshore oil recovery in severe weather conditions. It has proven itself in many incidents like the Erika, the Prestige and BP-Macondo spills. Rigid sweeping arms are steel, free floating constructions that are pulled alongside a vessel. Each arm has built-in pontoons on both ends, giving it floating capabilities. When the vessel is moving forward, the oil will accumulate in front of the arms. The oil is guided between rigid sweeping arms and the ship’s hull to the built-in oil collection chamber. In this chamber a skimmer and pump is placed that pumps the oil into the oil recovery tank on board of the ship. Standard a weir skimmer is mounted. This can within minutes be exchanged for a brush- or disk skimmer module.

Koseq - Containerized Self-Deploying Sweeping Arm System

The Compact 502 is an easy to use all-in-one oil spill recovery solution, built around a Koseq sweeping arm. The system carries in a steel container-frame a Compact 5 sweeping arm, a dedicated crane, a diesel driven hydraulic power pack and an operator console. The compactness of the system enables the oil responder to truck the complete oil spill recovery system to the Vessel Of Opportunity (VOO) to start operations immediately without having to connect the unit to the vessels powersystems. Only a tank is needed to store the recovered oil in the ship.

Koseq - Multi-Functional Barge

Environmental protection and inland waterways maintenance create a sustainable future for our rivers, but also supports economic activities for agriculture (transport of crops faster to the market and silt for soil improvement if it is not contaminated) and transport of goods from the main ports to the country behind it without creating congestions on the main roads and at lower costs. As Push-boats and barges are in general sufficiently available in areas where river transport is day to day business, a barge can be equipped with multi-functional equipment for Garbage removal, Maintenance dredging and if an accident happens can even perform oil spill removal services without investing in purpose build vessels for each activity.

Additional Equipment

Ancillary System for Oil Spill Recovery Equipment

As oil spill recovery equipment supplier, Koseq seeks to be fully supportive towards the market. Over the years Koseq encountered  many different products and solutions that can be helpful to combat oil pollution. In cooperation with several authorities an overview of products that a typical first or second line OSRV should be equipped with is composed.
