The setup features separate filter housings with ion exchange resin and a separate salt tank, designed to address water hardness by eliminating excess calcium and magnesium ions. This system helps in preventing scale formation in pipelines, boilers, and evaporators. Each unit is equipped with digital controls, allowing for the programming of regeneration cycles based on criteria such as softened water volume or time. For scenarios requiring uninterrupted water supply, multiple units can be installed in parallel. A unique aspect of the Krilico ST system is its regeneration capability, which maintains water flow quality during the process. Classical duplex systems of the Krilico SD series - continuous operation systems consisting of two separate filter housings with ion exchange resin and a salt tank. Used in high water consumption scenarios, mainly in industries with round-the-clock water demand. During rinsing (regeneration) of the duplex system, the flow of softened water to the user is not interrupted. The system is used to reduce water hardness mainly for industrial purposes, as well as for heating, energy, and wherever continuous soft water is needed. The primary goal of soft water is to remove excess calcium and magnesium ions, which are responsible for water hardness. Water softening systems remove hard salts, help prevent scale buildup in pipes, boilers, and steam generators.

To filter out iron, it needs to be oxidized and converted from a dissolved form to an insoluble one.
