Avista Cell Test Cleaning studies are an integral part of the Avista Membrane Autopsy and a useful tool in validating the effectiveness of a cleaning regime against a site-specific foulant. While Autopsies identify foulants and recommend solutions to minimize future fouling, cleaning studies identify the best cleaner(s) and procedure to address fouling on the membranes or MF/UF already affected. This approach can also provide an opportunity for us to custom blend and test chemistries specifically for your application or site-specific foulant.

The Avista™ Filtration Study helps determine the most efficient and cost-effective dosage of RoQuest™ coagulants for site-specific feedwaters. The multimedia filtration (MMF) laboratory analysis uses particle counts, zeta potential, and turbidity to characterize a water sample for colloids and silt and determine its fouling potential. The analysis can be done on feedwater or filtrate to gain a better understanding of the foulant parameters. The Avista™ Filtration Study is a laboratory test analysis that determines the most cost-effective dosage of RoQuest™ coagulants for site-specific feedwaters using multi-media filters.

Persistent fouling of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes can lead to increased differential pressures, reduced permeability and salt rejection, and costly downtime, disrupting operations. Avista addresses these challenges with advanced membrane autopsies utilizing cutting-edge Avista Chromatic Elemental Imaging? (CEI?), site audits, and pilot studies to identify and resolve fouling causes. This approach enhances system performance and extends membrane lifespan.

The best way to ensure successful operation of a membrane system is to implement a data normalization program. NormRO is a web-based system offered to Avista customers for normalization of their membrane system operating data. Authorized users can log in anywhere in the world and securely access data for their specific plant(s). These trends will allow plant cleaning and optimization work to be scheduled, and problems can be detected by monitoring the trends in the three key indicators of membrane performance: flux, rejection, and pressure drop.
The purpose of normalization is to reduce the daily operating data to a standard set of conditions, thereby allowing detection of trends in operating performance in the membrane system.

Avista™ OSCAR off-site cleaning and restoration is available when cleaning on-site is not practical or possible. Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes are pre-tested, cleaned, and post-tested with the goal of restoring performance to original factory specifications.
