KYPipe - Pipe Network Analysis Software

Originally developed by Civil Engineering professors from the University of Kentucky, KYPipe has been continually updated and maintained for over 40 years and is the most widely used and trusted hydraulic analysis engine in the world. KYPipe models water, petroleum, refined products, chemicals, refrigerants, low pressure sewer systems and more. It can be used for selecting and sizing pipes, pumps, valves, tanks and other devices. Calibration tools and pump operation optimization features help ensure sound modeling. Click here for our model comparisons and limitations page.

KYPipe - Optimal Design Module

KYPipe’s Optimal Design Module calculates the optimal pipe diameters for a specified section of a system to minimize the total pipe cost.  This can be used in conjunction with the Age-Based Roughness feature to account for projected future conditions.  When the calculations are complete the new diameters can be applied to the system for subsequent analysis. In addition, the original values can be restored as needed.

KYPipe - Optimal Water Quality Sensor Placement Tool

Drinking water utilities have recognized the importance of online sensors in minimizing distribution system vulnerability to accidental or intentional contamination. However, online sensors with real-time data acquisition and transmission capability can be expensive, forcing small- and medium-sized water utilities to limit the number of sensors to just one or only a few. Therefore it is critical to minimize detection time with the available sensors. Though TEVA-SPOT(Threat Ensemble Vulnerability Assessment and Sensor Placement Optimization Tool)can provide guidance on the placement of water quality sensors,it requires the use of complex water quality models coupled with sophisticated optimization methods for efficient sensor placement. Many small and medium-sized water utilities do not have the technical or financial resources required for meaningful use of TEVA-SPOT and are not be able take full advantage of water quality sensor technology, therefore facing a higher contamination risk.
