Bio Safety Hoods

Biosafety cabinets, also known as biological safety cabinets, are enclosed, ventilated laboratory workspace areas designed to protect the user and surrounding environment from pathogens. All exhaust air is HEPA filtered to remove hazardous agents such as viruses and bacteria. Biosafety cabinets are used in many laboratories including clinical and research labs. Biosafety cabinets are divided into three classes: I, II, and III. Class I provides protection for the user and surrounding environment, but no protection for the sample being manipulated.

Fume hoods are a type of ventilation system used in many laboratories throughout the University. Their primary function is to exhaust chemical fumes, vapors, gases, dust, mists, and aerosols. They also serve as physical barriers between reactions and the laboratory environment, offering a measure of protection against inhalation exposure, chemical spills, runaway reactions, and fires.

Static Pass Box

The static pass boxes are known to transfer materials between two clean environments which are equally clean and are designed to work with minimal personnel movement while dynamic pass boxes are used to pass through materials from an uncontrolled environment to a controlled environment. A static pass box should never be used to transfer material between a clean room and a non-clean room.
