LEMZ began development and manufacture of specialized radars intended for air traffic control (ATC) in the beginning of sixties years of the last century, when special ICAO requirements to ATC radars have appeared. The first such complex, which quantity production was mastered in 1968, was long-range L-band radar “Utes-M” that originated a whole family of civil radars. Taking into account more new and new requirements to ATC radars, as well as obsolescence and physical ageing of equipment being in service, LEMZ R&P Corp. realize development and introduction into quantity production of new models of air-route and terminal-area radar complexes.

Basic differences of the DMRL-C radar from other analogues are: the use of composite signals and pulse compression technique with compressed signal side lobes level below 60 dB obtained due to application of the latest advances in digital processing. These features provided radiated peak power reducing from hundreds to tens of kilowatts and radar performance figure heightening because of increased signal duration. In addition, these features made it possible to exclude pressurization of microwave section and to abandon the use of units with high voltages exceeding 12 kV and in the long run to raise operational characteristics of the radar.
