Blowdown Separators

The Lockwood Model BDS blowdown separator is designed to accept pressurized, high temperature water, and separate the flash steam from the liquid condensate for safe disposal. Blowdown separators are typically utilized to dispose of boiler blowoff/blowdown, however, they can also be used for other high temperature sources such as deaerator drain and overflow connections, process drains, or any other application where pressurized condensate needs to be sent to drain. Pressurized condensate enters the separator at high speeds tangential to the shell thus providing cyclonic separation of the steam and water. A stainless steel wear plate at the point of impingement provides improved resistance to erosion. Clean flash steam is vented to atmosphere via the large non obstructed vent. The remaining condensate is drained via gravity out the bottom of the tank. An optional aftercooler with an automatic temperature regulating valve is typically utilized to cool the hot condensate before it is discharged to drain.

Boiler Feed Systems

Horizontal Boiler Feed Systems

Lockwood horizontal boiler feed systems are offered as a standard for all boiler applications in simplex, duplex, and triplex configurations.  In a standard boiler feed system setup, the storage tank combines makeup water, condensate returns, and water treatment chemicals before pumping the now blended water to the steam boiler.  The system’s packaged atmospheric pressure storage tanks are built for commercial and industrial steam systems.  To provide enough NPSH for water temperatures up to 200°F, the storage tank is elevated over the feedwater pumps.  Vertical multistage centrifugal feedwater pumps are recommended for most commercial and industrial applications, as they perform well for low-flow, high-pressure pumping applications. Makeup water controls can be a mechanical, float/probe type with solenoid valve or modulating with an electronic control valve, and steam preheat packages are available to elevate water temperature prior to sending makeup water to the boiler.  All storage tanks come standard with reinforced tank connections and receivers constructed with heavy steel plating and two integrated vents.  The tank itself is constructed of carbon steel but can be upgraded to stainless steel for increased system life and system pumps can be selected for either intermittent service or continuous as specified.  In addition to these options, a thermometer with separable well, gauge glass, and pump suction piping with a shutoff valve and strainer are available.

Vertical Boiler Feed Systems

Lockwood vertical boiler feed systems provide capacities up to 750 BHP. In a standard boiler feed system setup, the storage tank combines makeup water, condensate returns, and water treatment chemicals before pumping the finished product to the steam boiler. All storage tanks come standard with carbon steel but can be upgraded to stainless steel for increased system life. In addition to these options, control panels, isolation valves, check valves, pressure gauges, and thermometers are available as optional accessories.

Condensate Return Systems

Boiler Condensate Return Systems

Lockwood Type VMX boiler condensate return systems are designed to cover up to 12,000 square feet in capacity.  In this configuration, EDA above ground receivers are available in 6, 15, 21, and 45 gallon capacities, while standard steel receivers are available in 10, 20, and 45 gallon capacities.  For optimal condensate return to fit your system setup best, motors are available in standard, ODP, and 3450 RPM.  Each condensate pump functions at a maximum capacity of 18 GPM with discharge pressures at up to 40 PSIG.  To provide systems for any need, duplex units are available with mechanical alternators and simplex units are available with float switches. Additional options include extras such as control panels, isolation valves, pressure gauges, and thermometers.

Boiler Condensate Return Systems

Lockwood Type VCS boiler condensate return systems are designed to cover up to 100,000 square feet in capacity.  For EDR above ground receivers, 15, 21, 45, 65, and 100 gallon capacities are available, and for standard steel receivers 21, 45, 65, and 110 gallon capacities are available.  Motors are available in standard, ODP, 1750, and 3450 RPM options.  To provide the highest possible condensate return, Type VCS condensate return systems have a 150 GPM pump capacity and a 75 PGIS discharge pressure.  In this configuration, duplex units with mechanical alternators and simplex units with float switches are available. Optional accessories include control panels, pressure gauges, isolation valves, thermometers, and makeup valves.
