A young and enterprising Engineering graduate Mr.Athapa Manickam created MAK Controls in the year 1973 with an initial investment of Rs.25,000/-. In 1990?s when the Indian aviation industry recorded a significant growth as a result of our economy’s liberalization, MAK took the initiative and boldly diversified from conventional electrical and mechanical products into the development and manufacture of aircraft ground support equipment, Implementation of India’s open sky policy was a further boost to the company’s growth

Under the guidance of the visionary technocrat Mr. Athapa Manickam, MAK Controls has flourished with an annual turnover of approximately Rs.2 billion.

We remain the epitome of how an Indian enterprise can successfully design and manufacture, mechanical, electrical, electronic capital equipment and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for aviation applications to international standards and prosper even against stiff competition from overseas manufacturers.

Subsequently, we planned to broaden our service to the developed world markets and formed a joint venture in 1997 in Memphis, U.S.A, By the year 2000, this joint venture was converted to a wholly owned subsidiary of MAK controls and is now known as AIR+ MAK Industries Inc.
