Materion Balzers Optics products

Materion Balzers Optics bandpass filters excel by steep transition between blockband, passband and high-passband transmittance (> 95%). The all-dielectric interference filters are deposited by plasma-assisted processes and show extreme environmental stability. Our sophisticated filter designs are optimized according to the requirements of the application.

New competence has enabled Materion Balzers Optics to improve the standards in LightGateTM manufacturing (aka TIR and RTIR prisms). Our bonding technology reduces the air-gap height to 2 μm and provides complete air-gap sealing, resulting in less long-term image degradation by preventing dust or gas from entering the gap. Precision blackening technology allows accurate positioning and patterning of the absorptive paint. Envisioning a growing market, all processes have been automated to meet high quality standards at very large production volumes.

NIR-TRANSMAX™ (Near-Infrared), a Materion Balzers Optics product, is a broadband multilayer AR (antireflection) coating. It is designed to exhibit lowest reflection in the range from 1250–1650 nm (S-, C- and L-band range) simultaneously. It reduces the insert loss to R < 0.1% (–0.005 dB) and guarantees ultimate efficiency for NIR applications such as sensors and Optical Network Devices.
