BERYLLIUM METALS ENABLE TECHNOLOGIES IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS. For decades, Materion has manufactured beryllium metals that are essential for the most advanced technologies in the world, including space structures, X-ray and imaging equipment, military aircraft, defense systems and more. Beryllium offers an unmatched modulus-to-weight ratio and a low thermal expansion, which makes it resistant to changing shape in extreme temperatures. Beryllium brings several other unrivaled advantages to its end-use applications, including good natural damping, low density, low neutron absorption, a high infrared reflectance and high specific heat.

TRUEXTENT® BERYLLIUM FOR SUPERIOR SPEAKER AND HEADPHONE DOMES, CONES AND ASSEMBLIES. Materion’s Truextent premium acoustic beryllium is used to make domes, cones and diaphragm assemblies for high-end loudspeakers and headphones. Recognized around the world by OEMs and ODMs, Truextent genuine beryllium creates superior acoustic parts for crystal-clear sound reproduction.

BRAZE MATERIALS WITH MINIMAL CONTAMINATION AND SUPERIOR STRENGTH. We manufacture “ultra clean” braze alloys with base metals free of contamination in order to produce joints of high integrity and strength. All of our solder alloys and gold brazing alloys are available in customized shapes and forms including ribbon, wire, and preforms.

INDUSTRIAL SOLDER ALLOYS WITH HIGHER YIELDS, SUPERIOR STRENGTH. Materion has an extensive range of precious metal alloys with superior quality and higher casting yields. The industrial solder alloys for electronics are cast and fabricated to meet the exacting standards required by the industry and your unique application.

Mechanical and electronic components can be subjected to extremely high temperatures, so the materials used to make those components must be able to withstand the heat—and perform reliably. Materion’s nickel beryllium Alloy 360 can withstand periodic rises in temperature, up to 700°F (350°C), while maintaining good spring characteristics. This makes it ideal for high temperature environments like thermostats, bellows, diaphragms, burn-in and test sockets (BiTS) and even Belleville washers used in fire protection sprinkler heads.

Challenging environments such as automotive and defense applications require materials with enhanced mechanical properties. Materion’s AMC^® 4632 alloy is a high-quality aluminum silicon material that is manufactured by a powder metallurgy method that refines the microstructure, resulting in unique property sets. When using this alloy to replace existing materials, it can help with weight reduction and can improve stability at elevated temperatures. AMC 4632 alloy may be machined to a fine surface finish and tolerances using high-speed techniques.

While boride compositions can be difficult to produce due to their high melting points, reactive nature and brittleness, Materion’s chemical expertise has overcome those challenges. We manufacture a comprehensive line of borides to meet our customers’ requirements.
