Mattex Geosynthetics applications
In urban areas can geotextiles be found in most diverse applications. The geotextiles are being used in access and paved roads, sport fields, riverbed protection, drainage trenches and pond liner protection. The geotextiles are also being used in vertical drainage applications. Groundwater and excess rainwater can be controlled well when geotextiles are properly used. More and more floods cause serious damage to urban areas.
Use of geotextiles in Roads & Railways is one of the most common applications of geotextiles. The pumping effect generated by traffic passing can cause a fast deterioration of the ballast and granular support of those to sleepers and asphalt or concrete. High strength nonwoven or woven geotextiles can offer an excellent solution to avoid these failures.
Tidal fluctuations and wave action can cause major damage to coastlines and off-shore construction projects. Nonwoven and specialty woven geotextiles can be used as a filter under layer beneath stone/ rock armour. Also riprap or synthetic erosion control mats are used to control erosion by disallowing the sub grade soil particles to erode. The geotextiles prevent erosion carried off by runoff water or other erosive waters, such as waves, stream flow, etc.
Geotextiles enhance both drainage and lining systems in environmental applications. In the large industry of waste containment, geotextiles are used to protect and cushion landfill liners and landfill capping systems, and they are used as critical components of geocomposites such as geocomposite drains and geosynthetic clay liners. Heavyweight, needle-punched nonwovens are use as cushion/protection for landfill and pond liners to keep adjacent stones in overlying or underlying drainage layers from puncturing the impermeable liner.
