Industrial Mixer Settler Equipment

The industrial mixer-settler equipment type SQ, are ideally suited for solvent extraction plant operation. The mixers are equipped with AC-motors and adjustable frequency inverters for mixer speed control. A complete range of standard mixer-settler sizes is available. The standard units are offered separately or integrated in complete process arrangements. Standard materials of construction are Deracane 470 (GRP) with internal parts in polyvenyliden fluoride (PVDF). The MSU SQ mixer-settler units are available in flow ranges (org+aq+-+recycle) from 100 l/h and upward. Tailor-made units (equipment of special sizes and materials) are produced on request

ADMCS - Small Scale Mixer

The ADMCS-10 instrument is a small version of the AKUFVE instrument to improve accuracy and rapidity in the measuring technique of solvent extraction distribution data. The instrument is a dynamic-mixer/centrifugal-separator  (mini-AKUFVE) unit that consists of:

Sealed Centrifugal Extractor for Liquid Separation

The CENTREK extractor is a single-stage, vertically sealed, device which provides centrifugal separation of a 2-phase liquid mixture, generated in a mixing tank beneath. Thus, the CENTREK extractor is characterized as a mixer-(centrifugal)settler device, formed by the funnel-shaped cen-trifugal bowl (settler) with the stirrer in the bottom, submerged into a mixing tank (mixer). The Figure shows a schematic view of the CENTREK extractor. Into a mixing tank (1) with a stirrer (2) sub-merged, two immiscible liquids (e.g. kerosene and water) are continuously supplied. The stirrer is fixed to the bottom of the funnel-shaped centrifuge bowl. When rotating, the stirrer forms a mixture of the two liquid phases. The mixture, filling the mixing tank, reaches the bottom (3) of the rotating bowl and is transferred by a screw conveyor into the bowl (4). In the separation chamber, the centrifugal force cause the mixture to separate radically, and the two pure liquid phases are collected (5) and thrown out from the top of the closed funnel.

U-column - Pulsed Sieve Plate Twin Columns

The pulsed U-column consists of two normal, continuous working, pulsed columns, arranged as a U-tube. The columns are identical and each consists of:

Laboratory Centrifuges

AKUFVE - Liquid Flow Centrifuge Mixture

The liquid mixture enters centrally into the centrifuge and is accelerated to the rotational speed within the inlet chamber. After acceleration, the mixture is forced into the separation volume, which contains eight chambers, symmetrically arranged around the axis and totally isolated from each other. In this arrangement the mixture has a zig-zag motion, imposed by peripheral partition walls and interspersed baffle ridges. The separated phases are discharged (the light phase from the upper collecting chamber and the heavy phase from the lower one) by pump wheels, which are individually designed to provide the appropriate pressure and avoid excessive frothing of the liquids.

Laboratory MSU Mixer-Settler Units

MEAB - Self-contained Mixer Settler Units

The MSU-0,5 units are compactly designed, self-contained mixer-settler units, built in blocks, one for each function - extraction, scrubbing, stripping, washing etc. The blocks include built-in heavier and lighter liquid flow transfer. The mixer includes a top-mounted, variable speed motor with mixing impeller. The stirrer also acts as a pump for the heavier liquid. The settler is equipped with a picket fence for distribution of the mixture and an adjustable interface controller (a jack-leg). The heavier liquid can be recycled.

MEAB - Laboratory Mixer Settler Units

MSU SQ Lab laboratory and pilot scale mixer-settler units are traditionally designed pump mixer-settler units, with squared mixing chambers (mixers) and box-type settling compartments (settlers). The mixers are equipped with adjustable speed stirrers and the settlers with picket fences for the distribution of the dispersion over the whole cross-section of the settler. An adjustable jackleg for the outflow of the heavier solvent controls the phase boundary level at varying liquid densities.

Centrifuge Systems

MEAB AKUFVE - One-Stage Mixer (Centrifugal) Settler Unit

AKUFVE-120 is characterised as an idealised, one-stage mixer-(centrifugal) settler unit. It was developed about 40 years ago (some hundred units are on the market) to improve accuracy and rapidity in the measuring technique of solvent extraction distribution data.

MEAB AKUFVE - Liquid-Flow Centrifuge

The H-CENTRIFUGE is a specially designed liquid-flow centrifuge, which separates a mixture of two immiscible solvents very rapidly into two extremely pure phases. A liquid-flow centrifuge for absolute phase separation.

MEAB SMCS - Static-Mixer and Centrifugal-Separator System

The SMCS-10 equipment is a static-mixer /centrifugal-separator. It consists of: A static mixer (about 3 cc). The H-centrifuge (H-10, about 15 cc) with electric AC-motor drive incl. variable frequency inverter. A flow system with regulating valves, flow meters and pressure gauges. The auxiliary units are mounted on top of the centrifuge and supported by a tripod.
