CWM Environmental recommends the following pre-drill analytical packages to ensure safe and adequate drinking water near gas well drilling activities:　

Tier 1 – Includes testing for the basic parameters that are likely to change if gas drilling affects groundwater. These include; Alkalinity, Barium, Calcium, Chloride, Hardness, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, pH, Potassium, Sodium, Specific Conductivity, Sulfate, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Coliform Bacteria, E.coli, Total Suspended Solids and Turbidity.

Tier 2 – Includes testing for all of the same basic parameters as Tier 1, as well as; Arsenic, Detergents (MBAS), Lead, Methane/Ethane, Nitrate, Oil & Grease, Strontium, Total Organic Carbon.

Tier 3 - Includes the testing of; VOC’s, Radium 226/228 and Gross Alpha/Betam in addition to all of the parameters in Tiers 1 & 2.
