Domestic water treatment is traditionally defined as treating water from a variety of sources to ultimately produce potable water that is safe for drinking or for use in food preparation.  This can include treating well water from underground sources, or filtering and treating surface water from natural or man-made lakes. Once this water has been obtained, it undergoes a comprehensive and stringent disinfection process, which results in treated water to be distributed as domestic/drinking water.

The distribution of water often involves several cycles of vertical and horizontal movement before finally being dispersed to the end-user. Upon release from its designated plumbing fixture, the water pressure is expected to be comfortable and usable for the end-user while adhering to local city and/or state code. With the various ways water moves throughout a building or structure, ensuring the availability of hot water is an entirely separate challenge. That is where hot water recirculating pump systems come in to play. These systems are fully capable of recirculating the water supply within a building or facility to ensure it properly goes through the hot water generating process while minimizing output wait time at the fixtures.

Isolating water sources from possible cross-contamination is often required in a variety of applications.   Metropolitan has mastered the protection of potable water supply via our Air-Gap Break Tank Systems. Utilizing the concept of a physical air gap, Air-Gap Break Tank Systems prevent the direct contact between potable water and non-potable water within a building or facility. Air Gap Break Tank Systems provide several safeguards to ensure that the two water types can never cross-contaminate. Rising water within a break tank spills out via overflow exits before ever coming close to a supply pipe opening, preventing cross-contamination via either backsiphonage or backpressure backflow.

Common applications for submersible pumps include groundwater pumping, water wells or oil wells. These pumps remove storm and sewage water from low elevations and out of the building so that it can be properly transported to a public sewage system (combined or separate). In addition to being energy efficient, submersible drainage pumps may be used outdoors where cold weather elements are less of a concern.
