Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training
New Part 50 Training Program
Welcome to the online training course for the New Part 50 Training Program. The program is designed to clarify reporting requirements for accidents, injuries, and illnesses in the mining industry. This program will enhance MSHA’s ability to evaluate and develop mine safety and health standards and programs which benefit the industry.
Continuous Personal Dust Monitor (CPDM) Training
As of February 1, 2016, mine operators will be required to use the Continuous Personal Dust Monitor (CPDM) to sample for respirable coal mine dust on working sections of underground coal mines and other areas approved by the District Manager. In addition, the CPDM must be used to sample air for all Part 90 miners, and may be used for sampling at surface mines if approved by the District Manager. The new requirements are contained in the final rule issued by MSHA to protect miners from black lung disease.
State Grants Program
State Grant Participants - Use this link for a complete listing of State Grant Participants and contact information. MSHA`s State Grants Program distributes federal grants to 49 States and the Navajo Nation. Grants are made to the state agency program responsible for miners` health and safety. Most grant funds are used to support health and safety training courses and programs designed to reduce mining accidents, injuries, and illnesses. Arrangements can be made to receive Part 46 and Part 48 training by contacting the grant program office within the state where your mining operation is located.
Mine Rescue Training
When danger strikes, a speedy and safe rescue effort can mean the difference between life and death for trapped miners. Adequate training is essential, as rescuers must be available and ready to respond on a moment’s notice.
