Mölnbacka Industri AB (MIAB) products
Air Purification Control System
The air purification unit of MIAB is fully automatic and demands a minimum of surveillance and control. As production in the factory begins, the air purification unit start automatically into operation. When production is stopped, the purification unit, sensing the lack of solvent emissions, shuts itself down. All the necessary hardware and software needed for the operation of the unit are included in the delivery. The purification unit is controlled by a PLC monitored by sensors in the system. The PLC continuously verifies the accuracy of the programmed parameters. This is crucial to maintain the expected high degree of purification. With the assistance of the operating system, the customers operators can remotely control the air purification unit. If assigned to MIAB, our operators can monitor the unit over internet connection. All parameters can with short notice, be changed or adjusted to achieve an optimum level of performance.
VOC Control Process
Miab - Model FD - VOC Air Purification Systems
This type of purification system is suitable for large air flows with low concentrations of solvents. Typical range of volyme is 15 000- 250 000 m3/h and concentration range from 0 to 1000 mg/m3.
Miab - Model F - VOC Air Purification Systems
This system is suitable for relatively small air flows and small amounts of VOC. The process air passes through a filter containing activated carbon. The activated carbon is replaced when it becomes saturated with VOC. MIAB F is available in to versions, a stationary were carbon is exchanged on the site and one were the filter is transported to a reactivation station.
Miab - Model D - VOC Air Purification Systems
A purification system where the process air is purified by means of catalytic oxidation. This system is suitable for small process air flows with a high concentration of VOC. Typical range of volyme is 500 – 12 000 m3/h with concentrations from 1 g/m3 to 12 g/m3. The system consists of heat exchanger, electrical heater, fan and an oxidation unit. MIAB can deliver multiple units in order to reach the required airflow.
Miab - VOC Control Catalyst Activated Carbon
A catalyst is defined as participating in a chemical reaction without being consumed itself. Oxidation of VOC is a chemical reaction between hydrocarbons and oxygen generating carbon dioxide and water. In presents of a catalyst this reaction takes place at a lower temperature compared to if no catalyst would be present. In an industrial application a mixture of air and ethyl acetate that passes through a bed of catalyst reacts at 250-300 C (99% conversion). Without the catalyst the temperature needs to be increased to 900-1000 C in order to get the same conversion.
Miab - Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is used as adsorbent because it has the best physical properties compared to other adsorbents. Activated carbon has a very large active surface. This surface consists of a large number of different pore sizes. This means that the active carbon can adsorb various kinds of solvents that may be present in the process air. It is primarily this feature that makes activated carbon superior as an adsorbent.
