Our ship management services offer the operation and management of Cable-laying ships. MOL Marine & Engineering operates and manages two cable-laying ships, KDDI Ocean Link and KDDI Cable Infinity. We support the digital society with our contributions in the installation and maintenance of submarine cable networks in the oceans and seas.

Proposing safety measures for moored ship: We propose effective and safety measures predicting limitations on cargo handling operations and mooring limits by estimating the calmness of port/harbor areas based on meteorological/oceanographic status and simulating moored ship motion induced by wave and wind conditions. Researching and analyzing vessel traffic: MOL Marine & Engineering observes vessel traffic by using radar and other systems, and receives and analyzes AIS data to determine the navigational environment.

Vessel operators can now count on the most sophisticated vessels and equipment to achieve safe navigation. However, even the best equipment and machinery and the most advanced science and technology cannot ensure success because vessels are operated by humans. We have focused massive efforts on upgrading our own technology to optimize training and thus minimize any threat to safety. Still, technology alone is not the answer to ensuring safety at sea. BRM enables bridge personnel to make full use of their individual and collective knowledge, information and skills, as an organization called the Bridge Team - acknowledging situations, conveying information, recognizing problems, planning solutions, and putting the plans into effect. 

Simulation Training: Use of the simulator provides experience in the basic operation of various types of ships and permits repeated training of different techniques, trainees can learn how the vessel responds under a range of weather and sea conditions and in different port call operations. Staff with extensive and specialized onboard experience add a new dimension to the training experience.
