National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) training
NEHA Food Safety Training Program
NEHA Food Safety Training program strives to reduce the incidence of foodborne illnesses nationwide — the majority of which, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are attributed to improper food handling. NEHA Food Safety Training registers instructors to deliver quality food safety education to managers and employees in the foodservice industry and provides those trainers with the resources and support they need to be effective.
Education and Training
Keeping up with the ever changing field of environmental health is no easy task. We are here to help you! We have been training and educating environmental health professionals since 1937, keeping you at the top of your game and prepared for whatever comes next. From ebola and chikungunya to bed bugs and E-coli, wherever human health and the environment intersect, we’ll guide you through the science and facts behind the issues so you are well prepared to do your job. Education and training for our members includes traditional formats such as journals and books, as well as videos, on-demand webinars, and downloadable e-books. No one covers training for the full spectrum of environmental health topics the way we do, so be sure to also check our EH Topics page for additional resources.
Environmental Public Health Tracking Program
Local health departments have a number of resources available to gain an understanding of the community in which it serves, however, sometimes the data and the numbers just aren’t available. When it comes time to decide ways to ensure a community is thriving and healthy, it is important to find those numbers and data so the department can address the most pressing issues first.
Continuing Education
Important Update for California REHS. Beginning January 1, 2019, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) will no longer provide Certificates of Attendance (COA) for Continuing Education (CE.). COAs will be provided for CEs earned through December 31, 2018 using the existing request form. CEs earned on or after January 1, 2019 will not require COAs and requests will not be processed. Instead, a Certificate of Completion will fulfill the CA REHS requirement for audit purposes. Please retain all Certificates of Completion for your records.
Epi-Ready Team Training: Foodborne Illness Response Strategies
Developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Epi-Ready is a two-day in-person workshop for environmental and public health professionals with responsibility for investigation of foodborne illness outbreaks. With a team-based approach to training, Epi-Ready focuses on how to efficiently and effectively respond to an outbreak by understanding the roles and responsibilities of the disciplines involved—using the analogy of the 3-legged stool.
Foodborne Illness Investigation Training (I-FIIT)
Industry-Foodborne Illness Investigation Training (I-FIIT) is a one-day face-to-face workshop designed to bring together food service representatives and their appropriate local and state regulatory officials in an effort to create stronger working relationships prior to a potential foodborne incident occurring, so that if and when it does, the foundation is already set for a collaborative effort. Additionally, the workshop will provide a better understanding and clarification of the investigation process by identifying roles and responsibilities, discussing early detection strategies and establishing and implementing control measures based on model practices. By providing this training, I-FIIT aims to assist industry and regulatory officials in producing a more rapid, efficient and effective response to foodborne illness incidents.
