Business Development Initiatives

All of which will result in the financial viability of the company in the long term. The departmental focus also envisages potential private participation in its ventures, so as to achieve the positive goals of involving the private sector in its long term growth prospects in order to realize optimum results. Additionally, the department continues to explore other initiatives, all of which will help NWC achieve a more balanced growth, by developing new revenue streams for the National Water Company, so as to enable it to become a viable financial entity in the long term.

TSE Initiative

The objective of the TSE (Treated Sewage Effluent) initiative is to effectively utilise the currently wasted resources, by creating an environmentally friendly and financially sustainable long term market for treated sewage effluent. This is via providing large volumes of TSE to customers for industrial, recreational & commercial uses including agricultural & muncipal, uses among many other non-human consumption uses.

O&M Initiative

The objective of the O&M initiative is to fill the current void in the market for a technically competent entity in the field of operating & managing the water and wastewater infrastructure, incorporating global best practices with financially sustainable operations. This initiative will also focus on the “insourcing” & “effective utilization” of the NWC staff, which will result in greater employment opportunities for the “Saudiazation” process.

Industrial Waste Treatment

This initiative involves providing suitable facilities for the treatment of industrial waste, initially in Jeddah. An Industrial & Municipal Waste Treatment Plant will open in Jeddah in 2011 with a capacity of 50,000 m3/day. National Water Polytechnic

This initiative was created for the purpose of training its employees and also those related to other organizations in the water & waste-water sector, not only within the Kingdom but also across the GCC/MENA regions. This will be facilitated by the creation of national training centre to be known as the National Water Polytechnic which will be operated and managed by global leading companies in the Water & Wastewater sector, along with reputed local companies
