Water Resource Project Planning and Management

Water is a precious resource, so valued that we have included it in our name--Nicklin Earth & Water. Due to our extensive, professional experience, we can offer a wide range of water resource services. On a majority of our projects we have not only been an integral part of the success during the project planning stage, but have also managed the projects through to completion. If the project entails watershed planning or coordination, we are skilled in the methods necessary to tie the project in with watershed-wide efforts.

Determination of Study Scale

At Nicklin Earth & Water, we specialize in investigating and testing ground-water systems. Most ground-water studies are conducted to evaluate the presence, availability, and quality of ground water. The scale of the study is dependent upon the outlined project objectives. If the project scale is limited, it may be acceptable to rely on existing data or to conduct simple testing. In other situations, especially if potentially significant demands of ground water are proposed, it is generally mandatory to conduct more comprehensive analyses and testing.

Model Construction, Calibration, Sensitivity Analysis, and Application

Following the development of the conceptual model, the numerical model is systematically constructed, then calibration and sensitivity analyses of the relevant hydraulic parameters are performed. Once it is justified that the model satisfactorily represents the ground-water system of interest and that it is a reliable, predictive tool, it is applied to evaluate the modeling objectives which were previously developed.

Surface Water Availability Determinations

Hydrologic evidence is necessary to determine the availability of surface water. If the required evidence is not readily available, it is best to enlist the aid of an engineer to obtain the scientific support to back your claims. We can provide this needed engineering and scientific support, which will prove to be especially helpful if you are attempting to gain surface water rights or are entering litigation.
