ICP-MS

Time-of-Flight Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer

The ability to collect mass spectra at between 33kHz and 200kHz without interruption coupled with a segmented reaction cell and high resolution mass spectrometer to remove interferences makes Vitesse a powerful analytical tool. Vitesse is also capable of being used for conventional ICP-MS analysis with the robust detection and patented ion beam attenuation systems combining to allow a dynamic range of 10 orders of magnitude. Combined with the well established Nu Quant data reduction software, Vitesse is a powerful tool for specialist nanoparticle and imaging applications as well as high speed conventional ICP-MS analysis.

Multi-Collector ICP-MS

Sapphire from Nu is a next generation Multi-Collector ICP-MS. The collision cell capable instrument builds on the field proven Nu Instruments Multi-Collector ICP-MS platform (with over 170 installed instruments worldwide) to add unrivalled capabilities. The Sapphire features high and low energy switchable ion beam paths that enable the user to operate the instrument as a traditional Multi-Collector ICP-MS with no compromise in performance. In addition, the Sapphire can also be switched into Collision-Cell mode, where the ion beam is directed into a hexapole collision cell for the measurement of isotope systems where interferences cannot be resolved using high resolution, such as Calcium. Nu Instruments continue to lead innovation in Isotope Ratio analysis, with the Sapphire bringing additional capability to Multi-Collector ICP-MS allowing the measurement of even more isotope systems by this now well-established technique.

GD-MS

Glow Discharge MS

Matrix independent calibrations, Lowest detection limits for C, N, O and other non-metallics, Cryo-cooled samples for low melting point difficult analyses. The Astrum is designed to test high purity materials with the best detection limits. The primary application of the Astrum GD-MS is the characterisation of high purity conductive and non-conductive materials. It is capable of quantifying virtually all elements from lithium to uranium and from matrix to sub part-per-billion. The instrument combines a glow discharge ion source with a high resolution mass spectrometer and is considered to be a major step forward in GD-MS, from the cryo-cooled tantalum source and rapid sample changeover system through to the bespoke control software.

IRMS

Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry

Unique zoom optics with no moving parts. δ13C and δ18O carbonate analysis from less then 5μg sample sizes, Most effective clumped isotope mass spectrometer and sample accessories. The Nu Instruments Perspective is designed for flexibility, high performance and reliability, it has the ability to achieve precise measurements from the smallest sample. The Perspective with its standard collector block sets a new benchmark in performance for routine stable isotope ratio applications for the measurement of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur and hydrogen. The addition of the IS collector block, transforms the instrument into the Perspective IS, which has the capability to analyse clumped isotopes with exceptional sensitivity and linearity.

IRMS instrument

The Nu Instruments Horizon 2 IRMS instrument is designed for flexibility, reliability and high performance, with user friendly instrument control and data analysis software. This next generation instrument possesses unique features for both Dual Inlet (DI) and Continuous Flow (CF) analysis, interfacing with a wide range of sample preparation peripherals. The Nu Ember Elemental Analyser (EA) allows for the rapid determination of elemental content of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, and sulphur (CNHOS) in a wide variety of organic and inorganic samples in solid or liquid form. When coupled to the Nu Horizon 2 IRMS the system is then capable of determining the isotopic composition of the samples. The system is useful in a wide variety of fields such as food adulteration and provenance, environmental science, and forensics.
