OXY - Permian Basin
Occidental`s U.S. business is focused in the Permian Basin of West Texas and southeast New Mexico, one of the largest and most active oil basins in the United States, accounting for approximately 30 percent of the total U.S. oil production.
OXY - Permian Basin
Occidental’s Permian EOR business unit manages carbon dioxide (CO2) where our leadership in applying CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques for increased oil production is a key competitive advantage for the company. In the Permian, Occidental operates more carbon dioxide (CO2) floods than any other CO2 flood operator. Nearly three quarters of our Permian Basin EOR business unit oil production is from fields that actively employ CO2 flooding, an EOR technique in which CO2 is injected into oil reservoirs, causing the trapped oil to flow more easily and efficiently.
Chemicals
OXY - Chlorinated Isocyanurates
Chlorinated isocyanurates are leading dry sanitizers for residential swimming pools and spas, effectively eliminating germs and algae. Their disinfection properties make them an important component of dishwashing detergents and industrial water treatment products. OxyChem`s chlorinated isocyanurates are also approved for routine potable water chlorination.
OxyChem - Caustic Soda
OxyChem produces sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution, commonly known as caustic soda, through the electrolysis of sodium chloride (salt) brine in diaphragm or membrane cells. Chlorine and hydrogen are co-produced. The caustic soda solution may be clear or slightly cloudy in appearance, depending on the cell process used. It readily absorbs carbon dioxide from the air. It is available commercially as 50% NaOH , but other concentrations can be provided.
OXY - Calcium Chloride
OxyChem is the world`s largest producer of calcium chloride, a premium salt with a variety of beneficial applications including ice control, dust suppression, road stabilization and oilfield services.
