The electronic residual moisture tester is a high-quality device specifically designed to determine the residual moisture in water-containing substances. It is particularly suitable for granular to powdery, free-flowing solids. To determine the moisture content of a material, there are various methods available. The one used in this device is thermogravimetry. In this method, the sample is weighed before and after heating to determine the difference and thus the moisture content of the material. The radiation used primarily penetrates the sample and is converted into thermal energy, heating from the inside out. A small portion of the radiation is reflected by the sample, with less reflection occurring in dark samples compared to light ones. The penetration depth of the radiation depends on the permeability of the sample, making proper sample preparation extremely important.
