Anaerobic Digestion (AD)

Organics-Group - Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR)

The Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor, or CSTR, is one of the main workhorses of the anaerobic digestion industry. By providing a fully mixed reaction volume and facilitating sludge retention with an external sludge separation filter, the CSTR optimises the use of space.

Ammonia Recovery Technology

Organics-Group - Ammonia Recovery Technology

Leachate is the liquid that passes through a landfill and is contaminated by interaction of dissolved or suspended elements. Treatment of leachate remains one of landfill engineering’s most complex problems to solve. The WENT landfill site in Hong Kong is a major installation serving the city of Hong Kong. The site treats leachate for high levels of ammonia prior to release to the environment. The system uses waste landfill gas to provide a source of heat for the process.

Leachate and Wastewater

Organics Group - Leachate Evaporation Systems

Where there is waste heat available, forced evaporation of large quantities of leachate can be considered and offers a relatively cheap mechanism of disposal. The systems offered by Organics can operate at above and below 100ºC, with the latter requiring a vacuum to reduce the boiling point. Organics has significant experience in designing and fabricating bespoke leachate evaporation units. Systems that have been designed and built include forced-feed evaporators, kettle reboilers, saturated air-stream condensers for energy recovery, economisers for waste heat recovery from exhaust gases, and humidifier evaporators.

Organics Group - Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR)

The Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is a relatively simple process partic-ularly suited to landfill applications. It is especially effective in removing ammonia to very low levels. The SBR will receive less supervision and oper-ate than other, more complex treatment systems.

Pyrolysis

Skid Mounted Waste Disposal Pyrolysis Unit

The PYROCLAST pyrolysis unit is designed for final waste disposal. This is its primary intent. Energy recovery can easily be added, in the form of an Organic Rankine Cycle power unit, although this is not a component in the standard package. The technology involved is not comparable to incineration, where flames and burning zones need to be controlled. Pyrolysis occurs in the absence of air and, more specifically, oxygen. It is a thermal degradation process, equivalent to melting, where solid matter is converted into its gaseous form without the presence of flames.
