Endogenous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are produced as a result of metabolic processes within the body, meaning that underlying changes in metabolic activity, including those from your gut microbiome, can produce patterns of VOCs characteristic of specific diseases. The ReCIVA Breath Sampler is used in conjunction with CASPER Portable Air Supply, designed to improve breath sampling by reducing the abundance of VOCs in inhaled air. CASPER filters ambient air which is inhaled by subjects, this helps to ensure than more of the VOCs in exhaled air originate from within the subject’s body and not from the surroundings.  CASPER is designed for portability and ease of use.
