Our environmental work is aimed at preserving and enhancing the natural environment - and mitigating human and ecosystem risk - whilst enabling sustainable development. In addition to doing all of this work within our own projects, we bring these perspectives and services to bear on projects found throughout the other sectors of Pell Frischmann.

Fire engineering is the appliance of scientific and engineering knowledge, rules and expert judgement to protect people, property and the environment from the effects of fire. Pell Frischmann’s fire engineers have applied these principles to projects in a wide variety of sectors. We have extensive experience in the railway sector (particularly for subsurface stations); mixed use developments and higher education buildings. Further experience includes offices, both new and refurbished; retail/supermarkets; historical buildings, and residential.

We have expertise in all aspects of Wastes Management, involving domestic, commercial, industrial and clinical wastes. The disposal of wastes is of increasing concern internationally in terms of both economics and conservation of the environment. Efficiency of operation with proper environmental control is essential in the handling of wastes through treatment plants and recovery techniques, through promotion of reuse and reduction of generated wastes, and through strategies underpinned by a targeted use of landfill capacity.

Our experience includes dams, water treatment, storage and distribution, sewerage, wastewater treatment, sludge treatment and marine outfalls.We also carry out flood risk analysis and flood alleviation studies, particularly in the context of new developments in areas of potential floodplain.With projects in the UK and overseas, we are working with major public and private sector clients and have framework agreements with Wessex Water, South West Water, Thames Water and United Utilities.
