Perma Pure Nafion - Humidifying with Tubing
Nafion™ Tubing’s moisture transfer properties are also used for the purpose of humidification. Challenges Addressed with Humidification: The human lung is typically 37°C with 100% relative humidity. Delivering oxygen or therapeutic gases to patients at or near those temperature and humidity conditions is clinically beneficial. Moreover, humidification of therapeutic gases is important to keep our mucosal membrane moist and healthy.
Perma Pure Nafion - Tubing
Nafion™ tubing, a highly selective tubing that helps increase accuracy during gas analysis, while reducing risk of damage to your device from condensation. The Nafion™ polymer is unique in its ability to seamlessly transfer moisture from one side of a membrane to the other side as a first order kinetic reaction.
Model Marine-GASS Nafion - Sampling System
Perma Pure’s Marine-GASS Nafion tubing based Sample Conditioning Systems is the smart solution for Marine CEMS. Designed specifically to handle harsh shipboard applications, the system ensures long term reliability of SO2 measurements according to MEPC 184(59). Because the level of SO2 is so low coming out of the scrubber, a peltier based cooler is unable to condition the sample effectively – only Perma Pure’s Nafion tubing gas dryers can preserve the SO2 by removing the sample moisture in the vapor phase. Not all sample conditioning systems using Nafion tubing Permeation Dryers are alike – choose the system from the company that knows how to optimize their performance in the toughest applications.
Nafion - Polymer
The Nafion polymer was invented by Walther Groth in late 1960s. Nafion is a copolymer of perfluoro-3,6-dioxa-4-methyl-7octene-sulfonic acid and tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon). In simpler terms Nafion is a Teflon backbone with occasional side chains of another fluorocarbon. The side chain terminates in a sulfonic acid (-SO3H).
Nafion - Tubing
Many of our solutions are powered by Nafion tubing—it selectively transfers water vapor across its membrane and can remove up to 90% of water vapor from a wet gas stream or add water vapor into dry gas stream. While transferring water vapor, it also maintains analytes in the gas sample or stream. Perma Pure’s Nafion polymer is often referred the wonder material for its unique ability to transfer moisture from one side of the membrane to the other. This transfer occurs as a first order kinetic reaction making it highly selective.
Pure Gas Sample Dryers
Perma Pure - Model MD Series - Gas Sample Dryers
Perma Pure MD-Series gas sample dryers use exclusive Nafion selectively permeable membrane tubing to continuously dry gas streams removing only water vapor. These dryers operate over a wide range of temperatures, pressures and flow rates, and dry to dew points as low as -60°C.
Model MD-R Series - Gas Sample / Membrane Air Dryers
Perma Pure MD-R-Series Membrane Air Dryers use exclusive Nafion selectively permeable membrane tubing to continuously dry gas streams removing only water vapor. These Air Dryers operate over a wide range of temperatures, pressures and flow rates, and dry to dew points as low as -60°C.
Model MD-700 Series - Large Diameter Nafion Dryer for Aerosol Analysis
The MD‐700 has been specifically developed for humidity control in particle measurement and aerosol analysis applications. In order to minimize particle losses, a laminar sample flow should be maintained through the flow path of the dryer. The MD‐700 addresses these performance needs while providing the moisture removal necessary to make accurate measurements across a wide range of flow rates. All moisture is removed in the vapor phase with a purge gas flow.
Model PD Series - Gas Sample Dryers
Perma Pure PD-Series gas dryers are multi-tube Nafion gas sample dryers designed for high flow, high performance gas drying applications. These dryers can be used to dry to -45°C without removing other compounds. Applications for PD-Series gas dryers include gas sample conditioning for continuous emissions and process monitoring. In these applications, sample gases flowing through the Nafion tubing are dried without removing any of the sample analytes. PD-Series dryers are also used as moisture exchangers in fuel cell applications. Fuel cell exhaust gases transfer their moisture and heat to the dry inlet gases (primarily hydrogen). Finally, PD-Series gas driers can be used in small scale process applications. Process applications take advantage of one or more of the unique properties of Nafion: highly efficient and selective moisture exchange, ion exchange capabilities, and extreme corrosion resistance.
Model ME Series - Moisture Exchangers
ME-Series moisture exchangers from Perma Pure are ideal for both drying and humidifying gas streams. This device uses Nafion membrane tubing technology to transfer water to or from a gas stream. In either application, ME-Series moisture exchangers will act to achieve equilibrium between the gas inside the tubing and the surrounding atmosphere. This is done without loss of analytes and with no utility requirements.
