Lab and Portable Spectrometer Systems

Photon - Scanning Monochromator

The Mini PL 110 is a miniature instrument employing a scanning monochromator with detector with gated boxcar integrator and averager with a nearly 7-decade dynamic range.

Deep UV Raman and Fluorescence Spectrograph

The DUV Raman PL 200 is a more traditional, but still miniature, deep UV Raman and fluorescence spectrograph employing a TE cooled back thinned, back illuminated CCD array detector. A major driving motivation for deep UV Raman methods is avoidance of fluorescence obscuration or interference with Raman spectral emissions. A second driving motivation for the DUV Raman PL 200 is the ability to detect both Raman and fluorescence emission, which provide different but complementary information about a targeted material. Raman provides information about molecular resonances while fluorescence provides information about overall electronic configuration for a material.

Photon - DUV Fluorescence Mapper

The MOSAIC DUV Fluorescence Mapper is a small size, light weight, lower power system focused on detection and classification of ultra-trace concentration of organic contaminants on surfaces such as high-performance optical components, semiconductors and other manufactured surfaces susceptible to ultra-trace levels of contamination. A major driving motivation for MOSAIC is the ability to spatially map or image chemical contaminants of critical component surfaces as part of QA processes.

Hand Held Sensors

Photon - Self-Contained Hand-Held Point-and-Shoot Analyzer

First responders and government agencies need to detect increasingly smaller concentrations of chemical and biological materials in water, in air, or on surfaces at increasingly larger standoff distances and at increasingly smaller instrument SWAP/C. Deep UV methods including resonance Raman and native fluorescence have demonstrated these capabilities over the years, but only using large laboratory instruments not suitable for convenient field use or for being hand-held. These deep UV methods have demonstrated the ability to perform detection in full daylight and standoff conditions and at higher sensitivity and specificity than is possible using near UV, visible, or IR methods.

Photon - Hand Held Sensors

TUCS 1000 is a handheld instrument for providing detection of laser based detection of trace chemical in the fg amount or pg/cm² concentration range using deep UV fluorescence with excitation at 224.3 nm or 248.6 nm. TUCS 1000 is designed to be employed as sensitive, in situ, autonomous, industrial or environmental monitors. The sensors developed by Photon Systems operate in the deep ultraviolet to enhance their sensitivity and specificity in identifying certain molecular structures such as organic molecules and well as other molecules that are optimally excited in the UV to emit fluorescence and Raman.

Photon - Miniature Handheld Instrument for Measuring Trace Chemical Contaminants

TraC is a miniature handheld instrument for measuring trace chemical contaminants on surfaces, especially focused on cleaning validation and process control for food or pharmaceutical product manufacturing. The TraC sensor has a ppb limit of detection for many chemical & biological materials on surfaces as well as small concentrations of chemical and microbial material in liquids. It also has a large depth of focus.

Deep UV Sources

Photon - Deep UV Lasers

Deep ultraviolet for less. The DUV family of lasers offer 224.3 nm and 248.6 nm for fraction of the cost of the competition. The laser is the size, weight and power consumption of a HeNe laser but with output in the deep UV. The self-contained, integrated, laser controller enables remote computer control for ease of operation and flexible data collection via LabView software. With an input power less than 10 W the need for water cooling and other thermal management issues is eliminated. The lasers reach full power in less than 20 microseconds from a cold start from any ambient temperature from -10 to 40 °C without preheating or temperature regulation. With output over 100mW and linewidths less than 3GHz or 0.0005nm these are great sources for a wide range of applications.

Personal Exposure Monitors

Photon NaDos - Wearable Personal Exposure Monitor

NaDos is a wearable personal exposure monitor (PEM) and near-real-time environmental chemical exposure monitor with higher sensitivity (3) than a PID and extremely high specificity to naphthalene vapor concentrations in the breathing zone of the wearer. NaDos provides GPS position and time stamped time histories of exposure to naphthalene vapor.

Chemical Printers and Mappers

Photon ChemCal - Chemical Printer and Mapper

The ChemCal chemical printer is an instrument with two functions. The first function is to generate precisely known concentrations of single or multiple chemical compounds on smooth or irregular surfaces. This provides well defined chemical targets for calibrating detectors used for measuring the type and concentration of trace chemical contaminants on surfaces. The second function of the ChemCal is to calibrate the TraC trace chemical detector over a wide range of chemicals and chemical concentrations. The ChemCal enables the automatic generation of a chemical concentration curve.

Plug & Play Gated Boxcar Integrators

Photon - Single Channel Gated Integrating Detector

The Photon Systems’ single channel gated integrating detector (SCGID) is a plug & play gated boxcar integrator and averager that synchronizes detection current sources such as PMTs, photodiodes, optical beam induced current detectors or other current sources with the emission from a Photon Systems deep UV laser. It is plug and play with Photon Systems lasers and can be easily synchronized with any detector. The SCGID synchronized detection can improve the signal to noise ratio of detection many thousands of times compared to CW detection and enables detection of sensitive materials such as microbes or biological material without damage of the analyte.
