Lining & Coating

Plastichem - Bonded Sheet Linings

Bonded sheet fluoropolymer linings are available in PVDF, ECTFE (Halar), ETFE, FEP and PFA utilising fabric backed fluoropolymer sheet laminate and Plastichem’s unique in-house developed vacuum bonding techniques enabling operation at elevated temperatures and vacuum operating conditions. Thermoplastic linings are also available in Polypropylene and Polyethylene.

Plastichem - Un-Bonded Linings

This type of lining process does not rely on bonding of the liner to the steel and is therefore capable of operating at higher temperatures. These linings are available in FEP, PFA and PTFE and for larger equipment the lining can be mechanically fixed to the shell. This type of lining is suitable for temperatures up to 260 deg C depending on the application. Un-bonded lining are not suited to vacuum conditions unless mechanically fixed. Due to the universal chemical resistance of fluoropolymers, lined vessels can remain functional even if the process duty is totally changed and often repaired in-situ. Existing equipment can be lined more quickly and securely than with other lining materials such as glass enamel.

Plastichem - Seamless Rotolining

Rotolining is a seamless lining technique for pipes and vessels which can be of complex shape and with limited access. The key benefits of rotolining are that the lining can be made significantly thicker than by other methods and that complex shaped equipment with limited access can be lined without difficulty.

Plastichem - Fluoropolymer Coatings

Coatings materials include PTFE, PFA, PVDF, ECTFE and ETFE. The spray application process has a limitation to the thickness that can be achieved which depends on the material type. Typically, PTFE spray coatings are used mainly for non-stick applications because the coating build up achieved is quite low. PFA and some modified versions can be built up to higher thicknesses, typically 0.5mm to 1.0mm Spray coating is a useful technique on complex shapes or on external surfaces such as agitators and impellors.

Plastichem - Composite FRP/GRP Linings

Linings are produced using glass reinforcement impregnated with chemical resistant resins and finished with C Glass or Synthetic layers to form a final corrosion barrier. The resins used by Plastichem are primarily Vinylester Epoxies due to their excellent chemical resistance properties. These systems provide an extremely cost effective solution typically for storage vessels and similar equipment.
