Gas Gathering Pipe
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe has been a leading material choice for the Gas Gathering industry. The reasons are vast and a few reasons are listed below. For further information please refer to CSA Z662.
Polyethylene (Pe) Conduit
Polytubes manufactures Polyethylene (PE) conduit used to protect and house fiber optic, electrical, telecommunications and CATV cables for various industries. Polytubes offers a wide range of products in sizes of 1/2″ through 12″ in a variety of colours. Our Conduit products are lightweight and flexible allowing it to be produced in continuous lengths on reels or coils. Reel lengths can reach as high as 10,000ft and can be customized to accommodate the end users specific requirements. These long lengths of conduit reduce the need for mechanical connections and the labor related costs inherent to other types of conduit.
Water/Mining & Industrial Pipe
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE. HDPE has little branching, giving it stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength than lower density polyethylene. It is also harder and more rigid, and can withstand somewhat higher temperatures (120 deg C for short periods of time). The use of HDPE Water piping goes back to the 1950s. HDPE materials have changed from its original properties. The changes have come in different generations and have slowly added to the value HDPE Water pipes offers the end users. With the changes to ASTM in 2006, North America is seeing HDPE pipes perform with high pressure ratings, higher temperatures and much greater Environmental Stress Crack resistance.
Low Density Polypipe
Polytubes has been manufacturing Coiled Polyethylene since 1953. The application for this product has evolved from general use utility pipe to Potable Water applications. The Polytubes product slate consists of various PE materials offering different performance for each intended application. LLDPE has a higher tensile strength and higher impact and puncture resistance than LDPE. It is very flexible and elongates under stress versus other LDPE materials which have a tendency to fail. LLDPE has better Environmental Stress Crack Resistance and has a good resistance to chemical and ultraviolet attacks. LLDPE is not as easy to process as LDPE, has lower gloss, and costs more than LDPE to produce. For these reasons very few manufacturers choose to use LLDPE over LDPE resin. LLDPE material will be found in the following Polytubes’ products: Series 75 and Series 100 CSA B137.1 ID pipe, Series 100 Prime pipe, PolyDrip Tubing, and CSA Rink pipe
