Soil and Groundwater Assessment and Remediation Service

Soil and Groundwater Assessment Service

With over 25 percent of PPM`s work force being comprised of geologists and hydrogeologists, PPM has evolved into a firm that excels in conducting site assessments. PPM is capable of providing extensive site investigative services ranging from small contamination assessments to remedial investigations at Superfund sites. PPM approaches all environmental site investigations with the same objectives in clear focus. These objectives include the collection of the minimal amount of data needed, in the fewest mobilizations necessary, to delineate the extent of impact while keeping costs to a minimum.

Risk Assessments Service

PPM has conducted hundreds of human health and ecological risk assessments over a wide geographic area with a variety of chemicals of concern. PPM was one of the first firms to conduct risk assessments in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and is a leader in developing site specific corrective action limits at soil and groundwater contamination sites. PPM`s track record in gaining regulatory agency approval of higher corrective action limits based on site-specific risk factors often results  in significant savings in remediation costs for our clients.

Soil and Groundwater Remediation Service

Soil and groundwater remediation is one of the primary focuses of PPM’s capability. PPM has completed hundreds of soil and groundwater remediation projects throughout the Southeast. Since much of the expenditures for environmental issues are related to remediation, PPM recognizes that this is the area that our clients’ costs can most significantly be reduced. Therefore, PPM has invested the time and resources to offer our clients the most innovative and cost-effective approaches available to bring their sites to expeditious closure. PPM has made substantial advances in implementing a wide range of remedial technologies from multiphase system installations to in situ chemical oxidation using ozone sparging. The soil and groundwater remediation experience of our staff encompasses Superfund sites, refineries, bulk fuel terminals, gas stations, chemical plants, and various commercial and industrial sites.

Air, Water and Waste Compliance Services

Tank Management and Compliance Service

Underground Storage Tank (UST) and Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) management has been an integral part of PPM`s services since the inception of our firm. PPM has completed thousands of UST and AST projects throughout a 15-state region. Much of this work has been completed under state-administered trust fund programs. PPM is capable of applying a wide variety of innovative technologies to assess the extent of hydrocarbon impact to soil and groundwater within a single field event. PPM is the largest UST consultant in many southeastern states.

Air Permitting, Compliance, and Reporting Service

Air quality issues have become broad in scope and increasingly complex in recent years. These issues have resulted in the need for technically-strong, specialized environmental consultants who are capable of providing quality environmental consulting in a consistent and responsive manner. PPM can provide professionals to address air quality issues at industries and businesses facing the unique challenges created by the Clean Air Act and applicable state regulations. PPM has extensive experience in the preparation of air permit applications ranging from initial applications for greenfield sites to renewals and major modifications of existing facilities, understands today’s complex environmental regulations, and can provide our clients with permits that not only meet their operational needs but do so while providing the least regulatory burden and the most operational flexibility.

Water Permitting, Compliance and Reporting Service

Water discharge permits are required for most industrial and municipal outfalls. Current permitting requirements vary from state to state with general permits for sanitary wastewater discharges and certain sector-specific discharges for operations as simple as a car wash. Other permitting activities, due to their varied nature, may require an individual permit for the facility. PPM’s experienced environmental consultants are aware of these variations and work through these processes in multiple states. As with other permitting activities it is imperative to understand the facility operations, have knowledge of the effluent sources, and provide the most effective permitting approach. PPM’s environmental consulting services do not stop with the application submittal; a critical part of complying with the permit is a thorough review of the draft permit to assure it will be applicable to the site and does not have any undue requirements.
