Variable Rate Solutions
Grid Soil Sampling Service
Grid soil sampling is a methodical approach to understanding soil variability across a field, enabling precise, data-driven decisions for optimal resource allocation and improved yields. This technique involves dividing the paddock into a grid of equally spaced cell points, typically covering 2 hectares each. From each grid cell, 8 sub-samples are collected at a depth of 0-10 cm to analyze various soil properties, including nutrient levels, pH, organic matter content, and texture. This comprehensive analysis is particularly beneficial in high and medium rainfall zones, supporting site-specific management practices and enhancing long-term sustainability and productivity. Precision Ag’s national fleet of 19 UTV bike sampling units ensures prompt local service and rapid turnaround of data, making it a reliable solution for detailed soil assessments.
Strategic Soil Sampling Service
Strategic soil sampling is an analytical approach focused on selecting sampling locations based on factors such as field history, topography, soil variability, and management zones. This method diverges from grid soil sampling, which collects samples at regular intervals across a field. Instead, strategic soil sampling aims at areas of interest or concern to provide a more precise representation of soil properties. It's utilized to assess soil fertility, identify nutrient imbalances, evaluate past management practices, and support precision agriculture applications. Tools and technologies such as soil maps, satellite imagery, and yield maps are employed to select sampling locations that yield valuable data for informed decision-making. Compounded with soil management zones, the results can subsequently be applied to Variable Rate application maps. Precision Ag offers a rapid turnaround of data with more than 10 specialized strategic sampling units across Australia. These units are capable of sampling up to depths exceeding one meter, also supporting carbon sampling initiatives.
