EMI shielding, known by its full title of electromagnetic shielding, but often shortened to RFI shielding or EMC shielding, is the use of manufacturing techniques and materials to protect signals from disruption from external electromagnetic signals, alongside preventing generated signals from interfering with the components installed around it.

Lead frames are utilised in assembly of semiconductor devices and are a thin layer of metal that connects the wiring from tiny electrical terminals on the surface to the large-scale circuitry on electrical devices and circuit boards.
