Proteus Instruments applications

The Proteus is the ideal sensor platform for monitoring organic loading in the sewerage network and at all stages of the waste water treatment process. Using robust and rigorously tested algorithms the Proteus provides accurate, real-time, quantification of BOD and COD concentration. The sensor platform is reagent free and maintenance requirements are minimal due to the automatic wiper and low drift, digital sensors. Whether you require on-line BOD monitoring of final effluent to ensure compliance or are seeking to improve efficiency of the treatment process using feedback and control loops for settlement and aeration, the Proteus is the instrument for the job.

Proteus instruments has a range of sensors for organic pollution monitoring in natural river systems. The Proteus provides a robust indication of human and animal waste inputs into river networks. The sensor is suitable for both fixed point monitoring, providing information on event dynamics or intermittent pollution sources, and catchment wide spot sampling. The highly accurate, conventional parameter outputs (i.e. BOD, COD) alongside environmental fluorescence outputs make the Proteus ideal for river basin managers, regulators and researchers alike. In addition, the Proteus is ideal for monitoring upland areas where land management practices may be leading to elevated DOC concentration due to erosion of organic rich soils. Both sensor platforms are robust, low powered and have automatic cleaning mechanisms so are the ideal solution for monitoring in remote or logistically challenging locations.

The Proteus is a sensing platform for real-time, reagent less monitoring of dissolved or total organic carbon concentration. It is ideally suited to on-line monitoring of DOC/TOC at all stages of the drinking water treatment process. In particular, the sensor can be used to continuously monitor DOC levels and alert when specific thresholds are exceeded that may interfere with the disinfection process or lead to the formation of harmful by-products. Efficiency of specific stages in the treatment process can be monitored to ensure assets are performing within tolerances and refinements made in near-real time. In addition, the Proteus can be used to monitor potable water supplies for the presence of bacteria (Coliforms). When used on-line at the treated end of a plant bacteria the Proteus that can act as a vital safe guard for drink water supplies.

Industrial effluents are often tightly regulated with specific discharge consents for organic loading. The Proteus BOD can provide users with a real-time data stream of BOD, COD and TOC ensuring final effluent is always compliant. Operatives can be alerted in real-time to any trends that might indicate process issues, resulting in earlier intervention and avoidance of fines and reputational damage. Whether food and beverage effluents or leachate from landfill the Proteus range has a solution for your monitoring needs.

RS Hydro are pleased to announce the official launch of their new multi-parameter fluorometer range - Proteus instruments.
