Wave Powered Desalination
In conjunction with Sea potential LLC in the US Pure Marine and Colloide Engineering Systems, are developing a mobile desalination system based on the DUO concept for disaster relief zones. The system is based on an inflatable float and an easily assembled reactive weight system that can be deployed rapidly to deal with acute, short-term drinking-water shortages.
Ocean Observation
The demand for automated sub-sea investigations is expanding rapidly in markets such as underwater inspections of offshore renewable installations and oil/gas installations, long term environmental monitoring of oceans and the emerging subsea mining industry. As the DUO is a self-reacting device, it is uniquely capable of being integrated into an underwater autonomous vehicle (AUV) to give the AUV re-charging capability without the need to return to a fixed charging point. This concept has the potential to significantly extend AUV mission times and generate significant operational savings.
