CLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008)
What’s CLP? The CLP Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) is the new European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures (preparations). This Regulation entered into force on 20th January 2009. CLP Regulation will replace Directive 67/548/EEC (short as DSD) relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances as well as Directive 1999/45/EC (short as DPD) relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous preparations.

China Hazardous Chemicals (Regulations on the Control over Safety of Hazardous Chemicals, Decree No. 591)
On 11 March 2011, the Chinese State Council issued the revised version of Regulations on the Control over Safety of Hazardous Chemicals (Decree No. 591). The regulation, which addresses the safe management of hazardous chemicals during their production, storage, use, operation (sales and import) and transport, will be put into effect on the 1st December 2011.
China GHS (Classification, labelling and packaging of existing chemicals and GHS-compliant MSDS)
In order to enhance the safety of human health and the environment, the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of chemicals) was issued as a recommendation from the United Nations in 2003. The conception of GHS was adopted by many countries in the subsequent years, including China. Under the UN GHS framework, Chinese authorities promised to start the relevant introductory works in 2006 and implement GHS in the whole country by 2008. However, the real start of implementation of China GHS has been marked by the adoption of a regulation of landmark significance in existing chemicals management, Regulations on the Control over Safety of Hazardous Chemicals (or the State Council Decree No. 591), published on February 2011 and is to take effect on 1 December, 2011.

What is CSCL. "Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture etc” is well known as “Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL)” which has imposed strict pre-marketing evaluation of chemical substances that were introduced on the market from 1973 onward (i.e., after the enactment of the Law).CSCL was amended in 1986, 2003, 2009 respectively after its implementation. The 2009 amended version will entry into force in two steps.
