This is a stationary solution two-compartment electrochemical cell for measurements under hydrothermal conditions. It is compatible with working electrodes in a form of: a) rod/disc (6 mm dia.), b) thin film deposited on flat substrate (using a wire clip) and c) membrane (using a wire clip). The working, counter and reference electrodes (all special autoclavable models) are mounted in a top casing either in 2-, or 3-electrode setup. The counter electrode  is placed in a separate PEEK compartment separated from the other electrodes by a ceramic frit. The cell elements are constructed with materials that are inert to the sample (PTFE and PEEK). The cell does not contain any O-Ring and the electrodes are fixed using PEEK screws. The construction of the cell and electrodes is open to equalize the pressure inside those components. After removal of the counter electrode PEEK compartment, the setup gets the functionality of a single-compartment cell. 

It is an autoclavable Ag/AgCl reference electrode equipped with ceramic frit sealed using PTFE into the PEEK body. All materials used to fabricate this electrode are suitable for hydrothermal processes. However, even PEEK and PTFE can withstand a limited number of autoclave cycles before crazing. The number of steam autoclave cycles that an autoclavable Ag/AgCl will be able to withstand before deteriorating depends mainly on the autoclave temperature, cycle time and Ph of the solution. 

This cartridge incorporates ability to measure temperature near the electrode stack to the features of the Three Electrode Battery Test Cell. It is ideal choice when researcher wants to monitor temperature while performing reproducible electrochemical measurements of battery and supercapacitor materials under controlled compression. The installed temperature sensor is standard Pt100 resistance temperature detector (RTD). It ensures accurate and reliable readings in -50°C → +250°C range. It has a robust construction with the sensing element encased in a rigid 316 stainless steel sheath. The leads have a durable and flexible Teflon insulation and are screened for protection against electromagnetic interference. Leads connect to any 2, 3 or 4 wire Pt100 temperature measuring equipment.The temperature probe is located next to the reference electrode and is in direct contact with electrolyte, ensuring precise and real temperature reading from inside the cell

Binders used in functional coatings (e.g. electrodes) act as ‘glue’, which secures the active material to current connector and keeps its structural integrity. Water dispersion of acrylonitrile multi-copolymer is used in battery industry. It is comparable to SBR binder, but benefits from better electrochemical stability and no need of additional thickeners. Other quantities are available on request.
