Air Samplers & Concentrators
Research International SASS - Model 2300 - Wetted Wall Air Sampler
The SASS® 2300 Wetted-Wall Air Sampler extracts airborne pathogens, particulates, bacteria and spores in liquid form for later analysis. Its patented wetted-wall aerosol collection method earned U.S. Department of Homeland Security Certification under the U.S. Safety Act of 2002. The SASS 2300 offers extremely long sampling protocols – up to several days – and unsurpassed monitoring capabilities in environments ranging from farmyards to hospitals to battlefields. Wireless control options and customizable sampling protocols extend its versatility. In early 2020 during the early phases of the pandemic, the SASS 2300 gained international attention when used in a widely cited study of Coronavirus in a Wuhan hospital.
Research International SASS - Model 2400 LV - Low-Volume, Wetted-Wall Air Sampler
The SASS® 2400 LV air sampler is our smallest wetted-wall aerosol particle collection system. It is designed to operate with a much lower air flow and fluid sample volume than the SASS 2300, while still employing the highly successful wetted wall aerosol collection strategy that has received U.S. Department of Homeland Security Certification under the U.S. Safety Act of 2002. The cyclone used in the SASS 2400 operates at a 40 LPM air processing rate and requires only 1 ml of fluid, whereas the SASS 2300 processes 325 LPM of air and requires 4 to 5 ml of sample fluid. Water loss through evaporation is correspondingly reduced. Makeup water sources will last longer, or can be reduced in size.
Research International SASS - Model 3100 - Dry Air Sampler for Biological and Radiological Aerosol Collection
The SASS® 3100 Dry Air Sampler is a compact, rugged, microprocessor-controlled portable air sampler designed for use with state-of-the-art electret filter media. It is ideally suited to the collection of biological and radioactive aerosols. In independent tests performed by third parties, it has outperformed all competitors in terms of collection efficiency and suitability. SASS 3100 COVID-19 Detection Breakthrough: In November 2021, the SASS 3100 made international news when a team of doctors and scientists in Singapore used it to develop a new, more effective method of detecting airborne SARS-CoV-2.
Collection Tools
SASS - Model 4100 - Two Stage Aerosol Collector
two-stage filter-based aerosol collection device. Many applications require the collection and analysis of aerosol particles, ranging from environmental air sampling and counter-terrorism to epidemiology, medicine, and agriculture. These applications typically involve the monitoring or collection of airborne plant, animal or human pathogens. But aerosol sample analysis is frequently plagued by three problems:
Detection and Bioidentification Systems
Oracle - Non-Contacting Gas Detector
The Oracle is a non-contacting gas identifier with part-per-million sensitivity that requires no consumables and which is operable over a wide temperature range. It is essentially a long baseline infrared spectrometer that identifies gases by comparing their infrared (IR) signatures with a built-in library of target gas signatures. A beam of infrared light from a remote source ( it may be located up to 50 meters away) is intercepted and spectrally analyzed by a base station spectrometer. The unique vibrational spectra associated with the target gases or atmospheric reaction products enable high reliability identification. Figure 1 shows the Oracle installed in an ASAP V. However, the Oracle may also be used as a stand-alone system.
TacBio - Biological Aerosol Detector
TacBio was developed by the U.S. government for military, homeland security, and public health applications. It is a compact and rugged portable biological particle detector that uses both diffractive scattering and natural biological fluorescence to monitor aerosol particulates and classify them as being of either biological or non-biological origin.
Detection and Bioidentification Systems - Nuclear Radiation Monitors
Stationary Radiation Monitoring Systems
For monitoring for the presence of fissile and radioactive materials. Designed to detect radioactive and nuclear materials during continuous automatic monitoring of vehicles, trains, pedestrians, and luggage at various checkpoints.
Model BDS -G - Scintillation Gamma Detectors
Detection of gamma-radiation and conversion of its energy into electric signals of corresponding amplitudes so that they can be later processed.
Model UDS -G - Scintillation Gamma Detecting Device
Detection of gamma-radiation and conversion of its energy into electric signals of proportional amplitude; statistical distribution of the amplitude as a function of energy (spectrum); transmission of spectra through standard data transmission channels for their visualization and processing.
Model UDS-GA - Stand-Alone Scintillation Gamma Spectrometer
Detection of gamma radiation; collection of recorded data as statistic energy (spectrum) distribution both under the control of the external computer and independently in accordance with a preset cyclic program; and transmission of spectra to a computer for their visualization and processing
