Richmond - Ancillary Systems Upgrades
In addition to the primary coal handling equipment, Richmond Engineering Works can design and engineer upgrades to power plant ancillary systems as well. Projects typically involve a conversion from electro-mechanical relays to a PLC-based control scheme with existing pilot devices, actuators, and sensors being integrated into the PLC controller. These systems are engineered to operate independently but can be networked with other plant systems. Graphical Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)’s whether mounted locally or in the control room, allow plant personnel to better monitor and more accurately control the system operation as well as help the maintenance personnel locate, diagnose and correct problems quickly and efficiently.
Richmond - Barge Hauls
At Richmond Engineering Works, we can upgrade barge haul systems to accurately position barges so that handling costs are reduced while barge throughput is increased. Our engineers can design a new drive system which will give operators a state-of-the-art system for positioning barges. No matter what configuration your positioning system is, we can upgrade it with the latest technology; increasing your productivity. With all the variables involved, river current speed, water level fluctuations, harsh environments, etc., our upgrades will be engineered and tailored to meet your specific requirements. The new system will be able to vary the speed of the barges, yet maintain the line tension required.
Richmond - Bucket Wheel Stacker Reclaimers
Richmond Engineering Works specializes in design/engineering, fabrication and installation along with inspections and upgrades for the work horses of the storage yard; the bucket wheel stacker reclaimer. Stacker reclaimers are designed as either rail-mounted or mobile (on crawler tracks) and are trenching or slewing type machines. The trenching type is for low-volume, high active storage piles where the slewing type machine is designed for use in facilities with limited yard length and require material to be readily available. No matter what type of stacker reclaimer is in your plant, REW can design and engineer a machine replacement or a structural, mechanical and/or electrical upgrade using the latest technology to increase machine life, improve safety of machine and personnel, and increase productivity. We match our machines and upgrades so that we meet or exceed your goals.
Richmond - Coal Shiploaders
Found in ports and terminals were bulk materials are exported, these large machines are used for loading coal, iron ore, fertilizers, and grains into ships. Richmond Engineering Works can provide electrical, structural and mechanical inspections and upgrades for these machines. We will incorporate the latest technology available to meet your specific machine’s needs which will reduce downtime and increase productivity while keeping your machine running proficiently.
Richmond - Coal Ship Unloaders
These rail-mounted unloaders are designed to unload large amounts of bulk materials like coal, iron ore, and bauxite quickly and efficiently. With our experience and knowledge, we can provide electrical, structural and mechanical inspections and upgrades to keep your machine running effortlessly.
Richmond - Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
From simple push-button and switch replacements, to complete SCADA systems, Richmond Engineering Works can custom engineer an HMI solution to suit all of your plant floor and machine control needs.
Richmond - Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Whether your needs call for optimizing controllers, replacing a relay control system, or providing support and/or an upgrade of an existing system, REW can custom design and program a PLC application for any DCS or SCADA system.
Richmond - Rail Car Holding Devices
Richmond Engineering Works offers a wide selection of train / railcar holding devices from 10,000 lbs (44 kN) to 150,000 lbs (667 kN) holding capacity. We will work with your specifications to provide the exact holding devices for your particular requirement. They can be activated either mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically; whichever is best for your specific application.
