Since the early 1990’s, River Sands has been manufacturing and providing a variety of quality graded sands and gravel for water filtration applications both nationally and internationally. River Sands Filter Sand purifies water and is a great option for your pool sand filter. Carefully graded to #7C, our Filter Sand optimizes water flow and filtration efficiency. The quality of our sand is so high it is used by local council water purification plants throughout Australia. The sand is kiln-dried at 1000 degrees to kill off any living contaminants like bacteria. It is also triple washed to eliminate dust and fine particles. The natural, weather-worn silica sand has excellent abrasion resistance and longevity ensuring a long lifespan of use.

Cal-Stop® is a highly active treatment for all cement-based plaster and aggregate pool finishes to prevent calcium formation, surface discoloration and staining. The advanced blend of water-soluble multi-polymers inhibits the formation of calcium scale and metallic stains on pool surfaces and on the cells of saltwater chlorinators.

Our filter sand is sourced from multiple locations including the 400 million year old Logan River System, to ensure we consistently provide the ideal angularity, size, spherity and hardness for the most efficient filtering of water. Testing over a number of years has also proven that our filter sand has a slow breakdown rate ( thus ensuring a longer filtration life) as well as excellent backwashing characteristics, particularly when used in dual media filtration with filter coal.

IntroducingEnduracoal™ – for improved lifetime filtration costs A harder, cleaner and more user friendly filter coal is now available from River Sands. CalledEnduracoal™, this purpose made filter media is an anthracite coal – the only type of filter coal that meets AWWA B100-16 (American Water Works Association Standard for Filtering Media 2016).

Filter gravel is used as a support media to filter sand and coal in water filters. For maximum efficiency, filter gravel must possess the necessary attributes of hardness and be rounded rather than angular.
