Sediment sampling can be one of the most challenging environments to work in. So many fragile organisms and so much sensitive habitat. Soft slippery working conditions. And all that water. With our hand-portable sampling equipment, we can walk on a soft shoreline at low tide, without sinking into the muck, and core down to over 20-feet. All we need is a few pieces of plywood to place our tools on. We can also install monitoring wells here. Farther from shore, we can use our raft and/or support boat to advance boreholes in up to 20-feet of water using split-spoons and PVC casing.

Sampling tailings can be a tricky operation, as tailings are usually quite soft and can have a low weight bearing capacity. They also are almost always located in annoyingly far flung places. Since our equipment is hand portable, we are able to set-up on most sites and retrieve a 2-inch core down to over 100-feet with minimal set-up. In very soft situations, we can tailor a system, such as a weight dispersion platform or raft, such that we can get onto tailings piles that few conventional drilling rigs could access. We can even wait for ice in the winter.  The fact that we can get a complete drilling package down to less than 500 lbs make mobilization a snap. If you can fly in or drive in, we can usually get our equipment in also.
