On Friday 8 February, two LargeRotoSonic FS250 sonic drills, two water tankers, and two service trucks, all mounted on 4x4 Mercedes Benz trucks, were transported to Sri Lanka. The impressive number of vehicles and equipment is intended for the five-year, multi-million-euro project that Royal Eijkelkamp has been carrying out since March last year on behalf of the Sri Lanka Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Management. Eijkelkamp Soil & Water recently installed two measuring buoys in the Berkel river at the request of the Rijn en IJssel Water Board. At the beginning of November, waste water from a factory nearby ended up in the Berkel river due to a breakage in a pressure pipe. Rijn en IJssel Water Board started a major cleaning of the Berkel river. Before, during and after the cleaning, Eijkelkamp Soil & Water measures pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and oxygen concentration.
