Random Tower Packing - Types

Hiflow - Ring for Random Tower Packing

The Hiflow® rings are high performance tower packings. The strong lattice type provides high mechanical stability together with a very high void fraction. The low weight and the mechanical stability enable us to use high packed heights without intermediate packing supports. High capacity of gas and liquid flow rates, extremely low pressure drop, very low wall flow and low sensitivity to pollution and fouling characterize the Hiflow rings®. If Hiflow rings® replace conventional tower packing, then the flow rates in existent columns can be considerably increased or the energy consumption can be significantly reduced.

 

Raflux - Ring for Standard Tower Packings

Raflux rings (or Pall rings) are standard tower packings. The open structure ensures a regular flow through the packing and lowers the pressure drop. Raflux rings are made of ceramics, plastics and metals. Raflux rings made from plastic or metal allow high gas velocities combined with a good separation efficiency.

The classic application fields for structured metal packings are processes with following operation conditions: Low liquid loads, High gas loads, Requirement for low pressure drop. These conditions are common in many vacuum distillation and rectification processes as well as in amine scrubbers, C3- and C4-splitters and applications in the field of fine chemicals.

RVT - High Performance Metal and Plastic Packings

The flow channels of high performance packings types RMP S (metal), and RPP S (plastic) are shaped as an S-line. They are vertically oriented at the bottom and the top of each packing element. This leads to a smooth change of the flow direction at the transition area from one the next packing layer. Furthermore the gas velocity is reduced. Both features reduce the pressure drop and extend the operating range. This effect has even been further enhanced with the latest generation of high performance packings, the RMP SP and RPP SP. With a constant separation performance, a significant increase in capacity of 15-20% and a significant reduction in pressure loss of up to 50% to the RMP S and RPP S were achieved.

Structured Tower Packing - Special Conditions Packing

RVT - Grid Packings

Grid packings combine the large surface area of a conventional packing with the robust construction of a grid structure. They are designed for use with high levels of fouling, erosion, coking and a large amount of solids. The grids are installed stacked in successive layers in a 40° circular orientation, thus providing minimal pressure loss while increasing column performance.
