J-T Plants and Mechanical Refrigeration

J-T Plants are typically used when the Customer wishes to maintain high recovery of propane (C3) and heavier products, but not add the extra expense or time to the schedule by adding an expander. In the case where the Inlet Gas is “rich” in hydrocarbon liquids, mechanical refrigeration may be incorporated into the plant design. Using integrated heat exchange, separation and pressure expansion through the Joule-Thompson (J-T) valve, the hydrocarbon components are fractionated in the Demethanizer/Deethanizer to deliver a Y-Grade NGL Product and a Residue Gas stream. The advantage of a Dewpoint Control Plants is that outlet pressure is equal to inlet pressure, which lessens the pressure drop through the plant. This advantage reduces the need for residue gas compression. The hydrocarbon dewpoint of the natural gas is controlled via cross heat exchange and mechanical refrigeration (typically propane).

Amine Treating

Once a Design Basis has been established, S-Con can provide our Customers with an Amine Plant design to meet your specifications within a few hours. Provided with a Basis of Design, S-Con can work with whatever information you have available to develop estimates for the overall project scope, cost, and lead times. Amine Plants are used to remove contaminants such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from natural gas streams. These contaminants are often referred to as “acid gas” components. Various amine products can be utilized to meet the product specifications required for a specific application, but all amines work on the same general principle of forming a chemical bond between the amine and the acid gases, thus removing these contaminants from the natural gas stream.
