Sable Classic line instruments for benchtop and field use provide the ultimate combination of ruggedness, performance and flexibility in the measurement and control of gas, flow, humidity, temperature and barometric pressure. We offer a broad range of devices that can be configured as a system or used in stand-alone capacity. Our module-based calorimetry systems offer the unique Sable advantages of raw data preservation and pull-mode or stop-flow respirometry for maximum versatility. Each instrument can be configured to work with a computer for both direct data acquisition and subsequent data analysis using Sable’s own ExpeData™ software.

Sable System’s Promethion whole room indirect calorimetry system synchronously records all measured parameters in a completely traceable manner. Key components of this system include the GA-3m2 triple gas O₂, CO₂, and H₂O dual path analyzer with FG-250 flow generator, providing a compact and complete respirometry system.

In-vivo, whole-animal metabolic measurements of ruminants or other large animals is frequently the next necessary step for evaluation of hypotheses from in-vitro research. Whether your focus is on animal nutrition, or the impact that feed has on CH4 and CO₂ emissions, Sable Systems multiplexed or continuous respirometry solutions provide large animal researchers with versatile or automated choices for the highest resolution results in animal and veterinary science.

The Promethion FR Series flow generators pull a constant flow of air from up to 8 rat or mouse cages at once, plus a baseline flow.  It actually contains nine flow control systems, one for each cage plus one for baseline flow. The flow rate is equal for all cages, and can be set by the user (typically 2000 mL/minute for mice or 3000 mL/minute for rats).  For multiplexed mouse or rat respirometry, a single FR-8 flow generator is all you need for up to 8 cages.

The new Promethion Methane Gas Analyzer is a cutting-edge upgrade to our Promethion™ Core systems. Our methane analyzer is the only one available with the resolution and sensitivity to meet the demanding application of flow through respirometry. The methane analyzer data is synchronously added to the Promethion Core metabolic and behavioral data as well as the Promethion Stable Isotope Analyzer data.

Continuous measurement of ¹³C and ¹⁸O isotopes in exhaled breath. The new Stable Isotope Gas Analyzer is a cutting-edge upgrade to our standard Promethion™ systems, allowing simultaneous measurement of stable isotope tracers synchronously with the Promethion data stream.

The Promethion GA-3 and GA-4 represent the latest technology in gas analyzers.  The GA-3 includes water vapor, CO₂ and O₂ analysis, and the GA-4 adds methane analysis.  Each analyzer path is contained on a unique Sable engineered individual single blade within a custom electronic enclosure. This not only simplifies system configuration, but also shortens plumbing length between analyzers to minimize lag effects that complicate data analysis.  At the core of these analyzers is SableHD™ high definition technology, enabling industry leading resolution of 0.0001%.

The Promethion CM-8 Flow and Calibration Multiplexer extends the utility of an automated gas switching system to include the calibration gas inputs.   The CM-8 offers secure high pressure connections for three calibration gas inputs and up to four sample gas inputs, as well as a reference gas input for baselining.  Unlike conventional gas switchers, the CM-8 offers pressure monitoring of the calibration gas inputs, thus eliminating the possibility of running out of a calibration gas while in the process of calibration.  Communication and control of the CM-8 is through Sable’s SableScreen software package utilizing Sable’s unique SableBus direct digital data transfer protocol.
