The desuperheater is used to cool superheated steam down to saturated steam temperature. To do so, processes heated by saturated steam often require small amounts of steam, with the load fluctuating between 0 % and 100 %. This is where the desuperheater can be used optimally since it ensures perfect cooling across the entire load range.
